Jenny Koralek has written numerous books for children, but "was inspired to write NIGHT RIDE TO NANNA'S after my two small grandchildren came to stay with us, having traveled across hte city and hte river in the night to our house. I believe every child in the world is entitled to such an experience -- to travel from one safe, known, loved place to another."

Another one from Jenny Koralek, who wrote the Friendly Fox, which I reviewed previously and have grown to like her, so I found this other one. Cat lives on a farm, hunts for food and protects his own, and yeah the book let's us know repeatedly enough! But one day Cat finds a little kitten named Kit, lost and helpless in a patch of grass, and decides to take Kit to the Farmer and his grandson to take care of him until Kit himself is ready to hunt food and protect, well, yknow, his own. It's really a sweet story of loving your pets, raising them to be what nature intended, and letting go of who you love. It's really a tender tale I hope kids can appreciate. Koralek is just that good.
