This book of daily devotions is intended as an aid to anyone interested in making contemplation/meditation a part of daily life. Each reflection, based on a passage from Scripture and, occasionally, on the liturgical calendar of Byzantine-Rite Christianity, is brief, so that it can be fit into a busy schedule. The reflections are meant to be read only one per day, perhaps with one’s morning-coffee, on the train-ride to work, or whenever one has five minutes. The brief daily reflection is also meant to be combined with some daily prayer and a bit of daily self-examination. That’s the way these reflections were written, – just one a day, – throughout the course of one very busy year in Vienna, Austria.
