The Stars Speak: Astronomy in the Bible

Rate this book
Has modern astrology, in its effort to read the stars, missed their message entirely? Can it be that what the heavens communicate is far more glorious, for more intimate, than the casual observer has ever dreamed? "The Stars Speak is a welcome return to the central theme of the heavens--the glory of God. From asteroids to the star of Bethlehem, "The Stars Speak reveals not only the Creator's grand and masterful designs but also His matchless and loving condescension.

Very clear and basic. I appreciate that even someone like me, who has zero background in astronomy, can understand the concepts discussed. Although style and expression were nothing to write home about, I still enjoyed coming to better terms with what's out there in the boggling hugeness of the universe.

I enjoyed reading this during eclipse week. Dr. Custer speaks to the average person about the beauty of the stars and celestial objects, and how they are evidence for a holy God who created it all.
The last half, with planets, comets, galaxies, etc., was easier reading than the first half on the constellations. I loved teaching constellations for many years but have always felt like reading about them can be very difficult. And I have never understood why diagrams of constellations cannot be drawn so that they accurately reflect their appearance in the sky. I've only seen that done one time, and they were very helpful to teach from. But overall an excellent book.

I read the 1977 edition. At times it felt like an assortment of random scientific facts with a sprinkling of Bible verses. But Custer's presentation of the constellations and how they were interpreted by early astronomers was fascinating.

Great book! I remember the Planetarium presentations he would give at Bob Jones University. Great memories and a unique perspective on Astronomy in the Bible. You should check out this title.
