When New Jersey-based sports radio producer Carla D'Agostino receives a save-the-date for her ten-year high school reunion, she is thrown into a tailspin. She is miserably single, living at home with her old-school Italian-American family, and miles away from her dream job as a sports talk radio host. She voices her discontent to her closest friends, the stunning Andrea, cheerful Katie, and playboy Dante, and they encourage Carla to stand up and fight for the life she wants. Inspired by their words, Carla sets her plans in motion. She enlists the help of a personal trainer, tapes a sports commentary demo with Dante for her unconventional WSPS boss Dan, and gets back into the dating game for the first time since her heart was broken by her first love. But the universe has different ideas for Carla than she has for herself, and she suffers setback after setback: Dan gives the afternoon host position to a Los Angeles import, and, worse yet, offers Dante a gig, which he accepts, much to Carla s hurt and dismay. More determined than ever, Carla continues to throw herself at life with gusto, and a series of surprises, both good and bad, lead her straight into the arms of a love that never really left.

There comes once in a lifetime, when you think you are reading a chick-lit book, but it turns out to be so much more. This is what I would call a propah women’s fiction. This book gave me Carla, a wonderful, strong, humorous, sarcastic woman, who like all of us, has a tiny sliver of insecurity and lack of confidence, at certain times. Who amongst us is confident all the time in every situation??

I have always thought that if a book pulls you in from the first line, then it is a fabulous book. Ten Years Later by Lisa Marie Latino is one such fabulous book. The author starts the story with a bang. I absolutely loved Carla, Italian girl from New Jersey, who at 28, stays with her parents, who is crazy about sports, and who would like nothing more than to host her own sports-show on the radio. But so far, she has become the producer of a show, just not her own show. Her nightmare started when she received a card beginning with Save the Date. Having a 10 year school reunion but not having a husband/boyfriend, a career, a home is extremely stressful especially when you know the others probably have it all. I totally get that. I have been scared of my school and college reunions (haven’t attended any, in case you wondering)

So armed with a new determination, Carla sets forth to makeover her life to achieve her goals. And man, she is knocked back and betrayed by people and life. But one would think, she would give up. Nahhh!! Not our Carla!! She she picks herself up, dusts up, and goes back to taking the reigns of her life, all done with humor.

The author has written Carla with great love; whatever be the knocks in her life, Carla goes through it through great dignity. I took 4 days to read this book, not because it was slow, but because I wanted to savor each word written by the author, it was that good. I didn’t want the book to end. I can keep gushing about Carla till I run out of words, but I would rather that every woman read her story.

Many authors write women’s fiction with the same formula, no confidence ——> great job, hunky man, high confidence. Carla’s story also follows the same equation to a slight extent, but the treatment is oh so different. Lisa Marie Latino is extremely talented to write such a book, which is an inspiration, and Thank God! no dumb, simpering, teenagery woman in this. The only time I wanted to deck Carla is when she wouldn’t speak up for herself, she never said No to anyone even when she knew that she should. I was standing at the wings, waiting for her to take the centre stage, supporting her all the while, and she never does… Then she did… And the story continued on beautifully….

This was just the perfect book to perk me up, when the flu got me down. A humorously beautiful take on school reunion invitations and its repercussions. Carla is every woman’s dream, and she is everything that a main lead should be : humorous, whacky, sarcastic, genuine, kind, honest, intelligent and a bit naive.

"Ten Years Later" is the story of Carla, a 27 year old staring down the barrel of her ten year high school reunion and she's wondering what her life has amounted to and how she can show her face when it seems like all of her classmates seem to be so much further ahead her in life. So she makes a plan to turn her life around and to finally get what she has always dreamed of and her plan goes awry and hilarity ensues.

This is a very funny story about trying to figure out where you're going and how you can get there. Carla is a great character. She's funny and she's imperfect in a way that seems real. She seems to be going through some sort of quarter life crisis in this book, which I think a lot of people can find some commonality with. Throughout the book, we get to see her grow and change throughout the book. She starts out not being sure how to get what she wants and we see how she becomes more assertive throughout the book. It's a great transformation to watch!

The writing of the book was addictive for the most part. I loved following Carla to see where she goes. The book is pretty hefty and I think there were definitely parts that could have been streamlined to make the book move along a little bit more. That being said, overall, this is a great story with a dash of romance and a healthy helping of heart.

I absolutely loved this laugh out loud page turner! The characters are realistic, well-developed and hilarious! There is nothing more motivating to get Carla to jump-start her stagnant life but her tenth year high school reunion. Carla hates her life, her job, even her family, until she realizes everything she wants and needs is right in front of her. All she needs is the right amount of explosives! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book as a Goodread's Winner. Thank you!

Carla D’Agostino has just received a save-the-date for her ten year high school reunion. Fear sets in when she realizes that she's had no outstanding accomplishments since graduation... she still lives at home with her parents, has never been married, has no children, and works behind the scenes at a radio station where her dream is to have her own radio show.

Her childhood best friends, Andrea, Katie, and Dante, encourage her to chase her dreams in the one year left until the reunion. After a little motivation, Carla hires a personal trainer to get her into shape, starts dating again- where she meets her major league baseball crush, and pushes her boss into letting her work on air as a sports talk radio host.

Much to her surprise her big plans begin to backfire... she has lost hardly any weight, falls in love with the wrong guy, and her boss hires Dante for her dream job... what else could go wrong?

Will all of Carla's life-long dreams come true or will they finally be put to rest?

Lisa Marie Latino did a magnificent job writing "Ten Years Later". The storyline is great and the characters are even better! Her book is full of love, laughter, life trials and is easy to relate to as a reader. I will most definitely be watching out for more of Lisa's work in the future!

Ten years later

Where do envision your self 10 years after leaving hight school? Many want the job, husband and the 2.4 children right? For Carla she wants all that but at 28 years old still living at home with her parents and very much single, she is dreading her 10 year reunion.

She sets herself goals to achieve by the time the reunion comes around, and boy does she get more than she bargained for!

She wants to move from producer to host at the radio station she works at which has been a dream since she was literally girl, but when she helps her friend Dante get at job at the station things go in the opposite direction.

This was a fun book and I really liked the characters.

Ten Years Later is a story like no other book I have read. It’s an extremely relatable book. Once I got into this book it was hard to put it down. I’m not quite sure why I haven’t seen this book everywhere! I mean this is every woman, a woman that most will feel a strong connection to and the events that she went through.

This is a book that I’m sure to reread and would LOVE a signed paperback!! I recall feeling a lot of the same things that Carla discussed most of my life, not just for the 10 year reunion… that I may have just skipped!! It’s so hard to be a person today, in the social media world. Everything is out there for everyone to see and share. Everyone has perfect lives and it’s hard to share when we feel ours doesn’t meet with social expectations. Like I said, Carla is relatable!

I really felt like Carla was a just regular person, just striving to do more, do better and what better motivation that impressing your previous friends? Carla was such a down-to-earth woman. I really liked that she wasn’t this perfect character and it was great to see her grow and become more assertive throughout the book. The groups of friends, characters in this book were a great addition and I loved their interactions together. It was so great to see friends bloom and blossom over the years and watch them continue to be friends through all of lives changes and their differences.

Ten Years Later made me laugh out loud and smile throughout. It was such a light and fun book. I had no problem getting through this book besides normal life and other book responsibilities getting in my way. I wish I had been able to devote more time to really reading it more one-on-one. I hate reading multiple books at a time, but the last few months it has been like that. I guess there’s been a TON of new releases lately! Anywho… this is a book that belongs on your shelf… totally signed, of course!! While this isn’t a big deal, but I like to mention everything, the cover just doesn’t seem to reflect the book, to me anyway. The cover doesn’t affect my star rating though since it really doesn’t affect the content of the book.

I received an ecopy in exchange for an honest review.

My Review:

As soon as I read the synopsis I was intrigued, I instantly wondered what it would be like to go to a reunion at my school. Would I be as worked up about it as Carla or would I enjoy going along to it. The honest answer is probably a bit of both, so let's see what I thought of Ten Years Later...

Carla is such a down to earth character this makes her feel all the more real and someone I could relate to. I liked that she isn't perfect and it was great to see her become more assertive as the book progresses. I was really hoping she would get her happy ending, not only in her work life but also romantically. The group of friends in this book were a great addition and I loved their interactions. It was great that they had kept up their friendship for so long even though they all had different personalities.

The story constantly made me smile, it was lots of fun and held my attention throughout. One of my favourite moments in the book has to be the part with Kevin I loved how it all played out. The story kept a good pace all the way through with no slow parts. At times I didn't want to put it down, I kept saying to myself just one more chapter!

Overall:

I loved reading Ten Years Later it was such a fun, entertaining and engaging story. Lisa Marie Latino has created a delightful and heart warming story that left me with a smile.

Five stars from me!

Thank you to Long Shot Publishing and Lisa Marie Latino for kindly sending a copy through in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.

Ten Years Later hits close to home. It is about a young woman, Carla, worrying about her future and what it looks like to those around her. She gets her invitation to her 10 year high school class reunion and discovers not much has changed with her life. She sets out to make something of her self in the year she has until her reunion.

It is a good book with a lot of real life concerns that are very relatable to many people today. It had its cheesy romantic moments but I became really engrossed in the story and was rooting Carla on by the end of the book. It makes you think and reflect on yourself, are you happy with your life? And if not why aren't you out there trying to figure out why not.

I would definitely recommend this book. Thank you to Goodreads for giving me an opportunity to read this great book!

Finally! It was about time that happened! I was waiting for that from the freaking beginning!

I'll keep it simple...here's why everyone should read this book:

- The characters are so fucking real! Like.. this is exactly how normal people function.. atleast people that I've seen.
-The fact that Carla knows when she's going extreme but is unable to control her actions make me almost cry because we've all been there, right?
-The ship has sailed!!! Honestly, I would've been sooooooo pissed if Carla ended up with You Know Who instead. I am glad she finally found someone who loves her.

And now moving on to why you might want to skip this book:

-The realness of the characters might sometimes make you want to punch someone because 'Can you please stop being stupid for a second?'
-The relation Carla has with her mom is (my opinion) borderline mentally abusive. Idk man, growing up with constant 'do as I say because you are a loser' is not my definition of Motherly love. Also, the sexist coments the men in the family make are so damn irritating!
-Last but not the least... This book might make you hope you find your Love of the Life like Carla did.. trust me. that one type is super super hard to find...

Just kidding! Don't let that stop you from reading this book..

This is one gem of a book!

The book started so well.. I loved the long albeit entertaining journey of Carla but the ending was not so satisfactory. I felt she didn't give any fire back to people who were treating her horribly, nor did I like whom she ended up with in the end. The whole thing with the Yankee player was just a waste of pages. Mixed emotions but the book had good humor and her friends were fun and very real

This book is about a woman in her late twenties, who is stuck in her dead-end job and still living with her parents when everyone else has moved out and found their perfect path in life. Meet Carla, an ordinary woman who thrives to complete her dreams and is always there to help other by going out of the way.
Carla’s journey from the low self confidence to the person who is the top celebrity in the sports broadcasting world is immensely funny, adorable and entertaining. This book is about how she discovers her true self while stuck in the middle of some egoistic and self proclaimed stars in the radio station she works. This journey gets a kick start when she receives a invitation for her school reunion and this is her motivation to achieve everything that she ever wanted, coz all her friends and school mates are either settled with their life or are at better end than her. Thus journey leads to numerous changes in her life and the life of her three best friends Dante, Katie and Andrea. Katie is a successful Baker, while Andrea is married to a rich doctor; Dante is the only option who Carla sees when she thinks she is doing worst in life.
Her journey is one hell of a roller coaster ride. The story is simple and yet wonderful.
