A richly imagined account of the experience of those closest to the Jesus, seen through the deep observant eyes of the women. Like Eve, they yearn to understand good, though they daily encounter banal evil. Like Eve, they devour the fruit he offers - he the untouchable lover but also the fulfiller of hitherto disappointed passions. Unlike the men who are called, these women respond with magnificent receptiveness and are with him to and through the end, and their own fear.
