In Death Warmed Over . . . Coming Soon, readers are introduced to Hannah Fogarty, a single mother, starting out on her own again after an abusive marriage. She is living and working on her parents’ property as she gets her own life back together. She is beginning to come into her own again, opening a mystery bookstore and finding love with the handsome sheriff, Will Garrett. It’s practically love at first sight. Ruth is the rebellious sister who eventually finds herself as the subject of rumor, possibly the primary suspect for the murder of a local woman whose boyfriend Ruth used to date. Hannah jumps right in to try and clear her sister’s name, taking to the streets of a small Texas town in the hopes of getting to the source of the rumors, knowing that the source will lead to the murderer.
The author has developed extremely likeable characters and has an obvious wit in her style of writing that comes across with the turn of every page. And while I found the story to be interesting and not one I wanted to put down so readily, I did find myself being more critical than usual when reading a mystery. The book came across more as a romance novel than a mystery, perhaps in part because the actual mystery did not start up until about half way through the book. Being a fan of mysteries but not romance, this was a bit of a put off for me. Cindy Daniel shows promise as a budding new writer. I have yet to decide if I will pick up the next book in the series when it is released, but I have not ruled out the possibility.

This is another cozy I read from the same egroup, a few years ago. Apparently there's two others I've haven't read. But this is a good read.
