This delightful book contains 164 strips that originally appeared in the London Evening News and were then reprinted in London Is Stranger Than Fiction (1951) and London Explorer (1953). Also included is an appreciation of their creator Peter Jackson, a man of genuinely many and extraordinary talents.
Peter Jackson (1922-2003) was a British comic book author, known by the comic strips of "London is Stranger Than Fiction", published every Wednesday in the London Evening News, between 1949 and 1980. Having studied in the Willesden School of Art, he saw some of his comic strips published in the Eagle Comics, as well as the Look and Learn and the Treasure, among other magazines. Besides comics, Jackson also worked in other areas, like sculpture, and became famous for his collections of antiques and old documents related to the history of London, something he started when preparing for his first comic strips that took place in the British capital.
