I am a huge fan of Kat Cantrell’s previous additions to the ASSIGNMENT: Caribbean Nights series, and I had such high hopes for Charlie and Audra’s novel after enjoying their prequel novella so much.

Sadly Redeeming her SEAL fell a little way under my expectations, in regards to the story that this couple were given.

"Stop running away from the hard parts of us."

To understand my disappointment, I think I need to again reiterate just how brilliant this couples prequel novella was, and Kat set the scene beautifully for their reconnection in Redeeming Her SEAL. Especially after two years apart, and dealing with the obstacles that each of them had faced as individuals in that time.

Sex was always a good answer to their problems.

The above statement in a roundabout way sums up my main issue with the story, in that the author seemed to fall back on sex overload to keep things moving along for a large part of the book, granted what was offered was well written, but I wanted more for Charlie and Audra working through their separation and coming back together as a couple. Unfortunately there were a several added aspects that for me, made this story a little busier than it needed to be –

I think there was a huge missed opportunity in the fact that in the previous books Kat has dealt with the men’s mental and physical scars after leaving the Military in such a heartfelt and compassionate way in relation to the connection they are forging with their women, and Charlie’s issues were just as deep and encompassing, but rather than incorporating them into the story in a meaningful way I felt that they were overlooked until the latter stages of the book with everything else that was going on, and after everything he had been through I was expecting it to play a massive part in the rebuilding of his relationship with Audra going forwards.

"We’re starting over… I can’t be here at Duchess Island and forget everything that happened before. Can you."

"Not one single second."

I have to say the latter stages of the book picked up immensely for me, because that’s when the story I was hoping for came into the light, maybe I had unreasonably high expectations for this book, but then Kat Cantrell is a hugely talented author, and although not a total winner for me on this occasion, I am interested to see what sort of book she gives Miles Lynch, the groundwork was laid for it at the end of this one, and I am absolutely certain it will be another winner.

"I couldn’t stop wanting your mouth on me if I tried."

Kat Cantrell set up this couples story perfectly in her prequel novella: Charlie St. Croix has always been one of my favourite characters in the ASSIGNMENT: Caribbean Nights series, so I was eager to read more and see if he could find his HEA with Audra.

description

Whilst it was by no means a difficult read, it just didn't reach the heights of the previous books in the series and their story fell a little flat for me. It has the sexiness and the chemistry that the couples bring, but there were a couple of points that just didn't work out as well as I'd hoped. Being a second-chance romance there's build-up and emotion as Charlie and Audra become reacquainted, but they fell into the less talking more action trap and it felt like Jared Anderson, once Charlie's best friend and now thorn in his side, was an elephant in the room for a large part of the book. And I wasn't too keen on that turn of events.

"I’ve probably got more triage training than the entire medical staff combined. Take off your clothes."

I think this is simply a case of you can't love them all and whilst I didn't love it, I did like it and with the Aqueous Adventures guys all present bringing their banter, the way has been paved for more from the guys.

I LOVE books about our heroes, the men and women that serve this wonderful country, whether it be in the military, firefighters, police officers. They deserve our respect. Which is why I LOVE this spectacular series written by 3 extraordinary authors, Kat Cantrell, Anne Marsh, and Zoe York. Redeeming Her SEAL is book 9 in the Assignment: Caribbean Nights series.
We first met Charlie and Audra for the beginning of their story in the SEALS of Summer 3 anthology released in July and I fell a little bit in love with Charlie then! Darn, he is now taken, but I can look and dream a bit. Charlie has come home after his last tour broken in his own eyes. During the end of his last tour he realizes he is suffering from PTSD after a tragic incident that happened. So, being the noble “Saint”, he breaks it off with Audra. She is heartbroken, has had a tragedy of her own to deal with. She doesn’t have Charlie to turn to, so she turns to Jared Anderson, Charlie’s “friend” to help her through her loss. A year later, Charlie has returned to the island. His “friend” Jared is not threatening his business and he does not know why. Jared has drastically changed since Charlie has seen him last. Not to mention, he also has Audra. When he sees her for the first time since his return he realizes he has not gotten her out of his head. Or heart.
This book was very emotional. Charlie dealing with what he considers failure, his PTSD, and his inability to communicate what happened to Audra. Audra is not much better at communicating either, which leads to trouble for this couple. I loved Ms. Cantrell wrote this story getting them through all of the walls these two put up. I just could not put it down. I NEEDED to find out what was going to happen. My favorite scene: “She didn’t mess me up, actually.” My heart was in my throat. I am not going to say more because I do not want to give any spoilers.
Kudos Ms. Cantrell on this superb book. You definitely have another winner.
I was gifted with a copy of this wonderful book for an honest opinion.
Thank you for reading my review. One last thing, if you love a good, no, great military romance, Redeeming Her SEAL, well actually every book in the Assignment: Caribbean Nights is a fantastic read.

This book picks up 2 years after Audra and Charlie parted ways so she could finish her doctorate and he could complete his commitment as a Navy SEAL. Things happened, horrible things that changed them both. Now both are living in the Bahamas and Audra's recent actions could destroy not only Charlie's lively hood but that of his friends and partners.

Neither sees any chance of forgiveness or redemption and yet both hang on to the pain and ache of a lost love. Is there any chance these two can repair the damage done or will secrets destroy what began so sweet.

Amazing story. So much pain and loss, I had the tissues out for a few parts. Kat Cantrell is truly an amazing writer.

Redeeming her seal

I really liked the characters and storylines in this book. Getting to know some of them a little better as I followed Charlie and Audra's relationship. I would recommend this book to to military romance readers.

Where do I begin? How about with the previous book about Charlie and Audra. How really great that story was, so much that you couldn't wait for this book only to have the bottom drop out of the story.
That's the way I felt. She laid the groundwork for a great follow up and seriously dropped the ball.
Suddenly it wasn't about Audra and Charlie and what happened between them during those two years or even prior to that, it was an angry Charlie who was basically pissed off at his ex friend for sleeping with his girl. Which by the way it didn't say she lived in a penthouse house provided by the rich ex.
She vacationed there with her pissy stepsisters.
Kat served up too little too late about Issac, their relationship. His death. What Audra had been doing since then. The sudden friendship with Rachel didn't seem real. I liked Rachel from the book with Evan, but throwing her in here and making her best buds with Audra seemed like yet another distraction. The book is superficial and yes I get that these two had a vibrant and amazing sexual life that blew the roof off. It was a highlight of the book. But Charlie's behavior and Audra's tolerance of it was not in step with the previous story either. Yup, I get that things changed for him because of what happened overseas and trust me when I tell you I fully understand PTSD. Been there. She chose not to explore that and that was ok. This book was basically Charlie unloading his crap on Audra. Audra pretty much taking his crap while trying to help and no one calling Charlie out on his bad behavior. Jace was an ass. This book was the biggest disappointment out of all the books in the series and had so much potential. Such a great plot line that just got wasted to hell. It ended and felt unfinished.
I gave it two stars just by default. If I had half a wit, I'd ask for my money back. Something I've never done. Such a disappointment from someone who can write so much better.

It was great to see Charlie & Audra again and to see them get their love back on track! They ooze sex & steam together!

Former Lieutenant Commander Charlie St. Croix left his final mission in Iraq with only healing and getting his future on track in mind. His main goal was opening an excursion company with 5 other members of his former SEAL Team in the Caribbean. Opposition to one of their vacation destinations is causing problems with the company, leaving Charlie no other option than to meet the problem head on and go meet with Dr. Audra Reed to ask for help ... if only she wasn't the one who's heart he broke over a year ago!

Audra finished her studies and got a job with the Freeport Aquatic Research Center like she dreamed of to continue studying her favorite dolphins. After Charlie broke her heart, a major upheaval happened in her life that left her broken even more. She reached out for comfort where it was offered and made decisions she might not have made otherwise ... will Charlie be able to live with the answers he gets when he goes to see her for help with his legal issues?

I'm so happy Charlie got his story. I'm also happy he finally got to deal with a lot of things that have been causing him heartache over the years. He deserved to have peace and love in his life. Audra was such a fun and kind woman. Someone who could stand up to Charlie and his attitude.

Happy ending to their two part story!

Audra and Charlie have some amazing chemistry and major hangups that thwarted their ability to get their HEA on the first try. I loved watching Charlie struggle with his feelings of love and his inadequacies. I can't wait to see how well they bring Aqueous Adventures back to a wonderful place.

I couldn't wait to see what happened with Charlie and Audra and was looking forward to this book. I must say one of the great things about this book was that it was nothing like what I expected. I expected Charlie to come back and for him and Audra to rekindle their romance. That would've been too easy. Luckily it wasn't what the author had planned. A fun read!

I purchased a copy of the steamy post military novel Redeeming Her SEAL (ASSIGNMENT: Caribbean Nights Book 4): Charlie and Audra by Kat Cantrell and this review was given freely.
So, this sequel jumps back in to the series at the end of book 2 and finally explains why Charlie and Jared are both personal and business advisaries. This is a steamy second chance at love after loss story complicated by jealousy and low self-esteem. The book is heavy on the steamy scenes but does provide some balance with glimpses into everyday life and Audra's redesigned family after a tradgic death, advice from the wonderful Mother C.'s and both Charlie and Audra's struggle with trust while Audra reevaluates her career and they both try to save Aqueous Adventures.
18+ for intimate scenes. Ends happily.

Heartbreakingly good read

Commanding & Redeeming Her Seal are both about Charlie & Audra's love story. Although I think these should have been books 1 and 2 I get why they weren't to fit with the flow of the plot plan. This book gutted me, something about Charlie you just really love and I can see why the Author had a tough time with his story. I think some parts could have been left out and others developed more... but since this is a romance novel I can see why they weren't. I really enjoy this series and would recommend to all romance novel lovers.

This is the continuation of Charlie & Audra's story so we find out why Charlie ghosted Audra and why Audra started dating Charlie's nemesis Jared. For some reason, I love the way Kat Cantrell writes. Her stories have likeable characters and move forward quickly. Great beach read with steamy scenes and HEA's.

Charlie made blaming other people for his abject behavior an art. Audra was the “saint” of the story and Charlie was the no commitment ass. Audra went too far in forgiveness and should have kicked him in the derrière after his first heinous act. He did redeem himself by the end but I didn’t care. The story was well written and edited and it allowed me to read to the end.

Redeeming Her Seal

Charlie and Audra most definitely have a sexual connection. When Charlie has to return to his military service and is away for a year things get crazy. Love the ending. Highly recommend reading. Now it's on to the next book.

I have recently "discovered" Ms Cantrell and consider her a gifted author that blends romance with real life situations. The characters are far from perfect and that's what really makes it a great story. I will continue to search for Ms Cantrell's books.

WOW! By far one of the best books in the series. We finally get to see what happens to Charlie St Croix and Audra and see how they handle Jared Anderson. This was one of those books you can't put down and stop reading. Also given more book time are Jace and Miles! Can't wait to read their stories!

Love this series, it is a stand alone read but you can still enjoy the rest of the team. Fast read, perfectly paced, pulls you in from the start. You cannot go wrong with a SEAL story.
