While it was interesting to get some facts from the case, it was a difficult read due to the grammatical issues with the book. An editor would have made a world of difference. I grew up right down the street from where this tragedy took place, and I was expecting some "answers." I was, however, left with even more questions than I had before.
Save your money. I do not recommend. Only gave one star because I can't give negative stars. Supposed to be the "true" story of this poor child's murder, but how can she possibly say she KNOWS what went on in this child's mind...what the child was thinking as she walked, what the child was thinking and feeling as the child was brutalized? The answer...this woman can not possibly know and therefore the story is NOT a true accounting. I lived in the area at the time, I know family members, went to school with family members, I've heard the story from the family. The family is VERY ANGRY about this book. This woman did not get permission to write this book...she apparently says that the child "came/spoke to her in a dream". While I can not speak to the veracity of that, I must say I do find it suspect. The woman says she visited the murderer in prison, yet the prison tells the family they have no record of the woman visiting. Bypass this one.
Wanted to read this because I knew the author and remembered the horrible abduction, rape and murder of Betty Jean Necessary. It was poorly written with spelling mistakes and commentaries that made us wonder why there was no other investigations of others in the area? There was also other murders described, at the end. Why? Were they supposed victims of F. Bowen? Not recommended, there is nothing to learn here.
