The author, Holman's, illustration via words and pictures demonstrates the beauty we as humans share. The poetic flow that is weaved throughout the pages brings the reader on a [historical] journey. There are many similarities each culture share and its importance to them - holidays, foods, traditions, clothing, and music to name a few. Holman did a great job of showing children [and adults] that it doesn't matter what you look like, remember that we all have something to share with one another and respect others in the process.
This is a great children's book exploring the diversity of life, backgrounds, religions, clothing, food and all things cultural in people. Beautifully illustrated and lovely and straight forward to read. We used it for school's Diversity month.
