Its original settlers were principally disbanded revolutionary soldiers, belonging to Sir John Johnson' 8 regiment, and of Scotch and German extraction, but most of the latter. The inhabitants of tlie back parts of the above mentioned townships, which have been settled at different periods from that time to this, are a mixtui'e of almost all nations.
