i never finished this book, but it's from my childhood. i eventually sold this to my local half price book store. [Edit: it was 2004 & I didn't have the technology to fact check any of this or follow up with any of the art works.]
i got this book for myself @ the local mall. like during winter time in like 4th grade, maybe 5th. [Edit: i bought it because praying to God at church didn't get me the gender correction nor the HRT I needed so, I was trying to contact fairies in my backyard to take me to get HRT & a gender correction but I was failing and so I was like okay, let's look at some profile pics & see if gaining that familiarity will help me find fairies that will help me.] it was during Christmas shopping. basically it was a grownup version of a picture book & i liked that. it seemed complicated though & nudity started becoming more common in the pages around faces/images 160-300 or so. then i felt like it was kind of pretentious or such, but yeah this book reminds me that my childhood in that part smelled like a flowery river thing. i was also interested in Japan at the time.
i also thought this book was literally saying that these faces were of literal god, but nah, it wasn't.
TLDR: was somewhat disturbing, but its a good trigger for remembering my past.. it also haunts me that i never finished it.

Small, bargain book size, so the art pieces are sometimes hard to make out. Some captions were purely subjective rather than even just a little informative (i.e. "hey, look. this is pretty."), and some captions were downright incorrect concerning what was happening in the art piece, but the sheer amount of pieces involved held my interest throughout.
