A Very Good Overview of Major Warship Classes as of the Early 1980s

This book was originally published in 1983. Nevertheless it provides a very good overview of the major classes of warships (Battleships, Destroyers, Cruisers, Submarines, Aircraft Carriers and Strike Craft). This overview not only describes their “current” roles (as of the early 1980s) in naval fleets and naval warfare but also historical perspective in their original roles and how both the roles and vessels themselves changed over time. Highly recommended.
