Her demonic Angel is a collection of all Joy Mutter's short stories written thus far in a variety of genres, so there should be something for everyone to enjoy. Some tales are stranger than others, but all are different shades of dark. Despite its somewhat suggestive title, Her demonic Angel is not erotic fiction.

This is an intense and sometimes dark collection that readers are going to find fascinating. I won't go into each short story separately, but will say I loved them all. The author takes a trip into the dark side and readers will be glad she did. I found the writing well done and the tales well told. If you haven;t read any of this author's other books this is a great one to give readers a peek into a wonderful writer's vivid mind.
These stories reflect situations we have most all experienced, mainly downer episodes. The solutions are interesting and occasionally eye-opening. I enjoyed seeing Joy's world through her eyes.
I received this collection of short stories from the author, Joy Mutter. Thank you for sharing your hard work with me. I have read this collection of my own volition, and this review reflects my honest opinion of this work.
Reviewed on June 1 at Goodreads, AmazonSmile, Barnes & Noble, and BookBub.
I really enjoyed reading this book - Joy covers a wide range of interesting story-lines and fascinating characters! A brilliant read for anyone who likes something a little darker.
Having read six of Joy Mutter’s novels, it was interesting to go back to this early example of her work to see how it compares. In this collection of fourteen short stories, the author explores themes that will be familiar to readers of her ‘Hostile’ series. ‘Dark’ and ‘edgy’ are words that come to mind as she delves into ordinary, everyday occurrences such as a belligerent child, a rebellious teenager and a stamp collector whose hobby overrides all interest in his long-suffering spouse. Other tales focus on topics including a reliance on robotic technology and bizarre events such as, in one of my favourites, ‘The Day Nobody Gave a Damn’, where a nightshift worker returns home to find the entire community has decided to stay in bed. As with much of Ms Mutter’s work, her darkest deeds are left until last—in ‘Conor’s Revenge’ she leaves little to the imagination as a former choirboy spots a chance to get even.
As always with this author, I’d advise caution—there may be blood!
I've read all of this author's books and enjoyed everyone I read this a while ago but must have forgotten to review it as it's a collection of short stories it gives you an insight to the writers style so give it a read then if you like what you read which I'm sure you will you can buy the rest of joys books
Entertaining collection of 14 shorts. The best two I think are the 'end of days' stories - plausible or not, one can't help but put oneself in the shoes of the characters. Beautiful Daughter is just achingly sad. Two stories end abruptly and tragically. Others have a neat twist, a few peter out - a twist is of course only optional. The one sequel I'd like to see is the tattooed girl after she fails to win the love of the tattooist. Oh, and two of the stories have characters talking like the grown-ups in an Enid Blyton story - very 1950s but no-one talks like that any more.
This was a Goodreads giveaway. Usually I don't choose to read short stories because I never feel as if I get to know the characters before the story ends! But this author is spot on. She manages to give all the relevant information that is needed to understand each story. And each story was different but very readable. Would thoroughly recommend this book - very enjoyable.
This book consists of several stories that are about different topics. The author's use of description and narrative create a vivid array of characters that are uncertain about life's surprises. Each story is different and unique, but all of them kept me engaged. I recommend it to anyone that likes a variety of short fiction (from strange to realistic).
That was a very good collection of short stories. All of them were quite unique and intriguing. They are dark but not gripping, a good choice for winter evenings. You can find here anything from story about arsonist, lonely widow, romance and divorce.
A collection of deliciously dark and curious stories.
I’ve read several books from this author and particularly enjoyed this collection of dark and curious short stories. The authors writing style quickly draws the reader in and grasps the attention.
There are plenty of plot twists to keep the reading guessing, culminating with a surprise ending.
'Her demonic Angel' by Joy Mutter is a collection of thirteen short stories with no apparent link, apart from 'being of different shades of dark' (cit.). Every tale has a good kernel of wit and potential, but it is not developed enough to involve the reader in something more than an instantaneous self-satisfaction. If a short story is with respect to a novel what a short film is with respect to a film, these pieces of narration do not surpass the level of a nice snapshot. And this is a shame, because the author proves to master a concise and effective style. The impression is of a collection quickly assembled and published without a review or a good polishing.
