Such a great tale. I daresay better then the other's I have read. The illustrations were even more beautiful and detailed than the last. Though a simple story, it was a sweet, good story. One with morals and a great bed time story. Though I do wish Li Mei apologised for her rude and bratty behaviour to Pearlie not just to her sister Li Wei. Li Wei lived on the better side of the Forbidden City, in Spring. Even though they are identical , well twins at least Wei is prettier and nicer! The author really captured the beauty of China and her Chinese and their accompanying pictures were pretty ( if not all) spot on!

Pearlie herself looks lovely in her Chinese style ( Imperial) get up/outfit on the cover and the last few pages in the book.
The party: It definitely went out with a bang!

It was nice to read a tale set in China, my two cultures mixed since I have read little if not any of the sort. Unique! The sisters have such beautiful names too. That's what parents do too! The princesses looked especially lovely too. :)

Every Pearlie adventure seems better than the next!
Definitely recommend ( it, to a friend, family, someone, anyone! Read again!

4.9/5 stars (20.11.2025-20.11.2025, 19.12.2025-19.12.2025). I got confused between Princess Li Wei and Princess Li Mei and had to flip back and forth between the pages thus lowering the rating from 5 to a bit lower
