In our epoch of globalization, almost all the parts and regions of the world would more frequently interact, if not grow together, at least economically speaking and via electronic information exchange, leading to worldwide virtual ubiquity. Whether this sort of economic and informational globalization may lead to a cosmopolitan orientation, if not unity, of the different parts and regions of the world, is an intriguing question. Although the world became much more interconnected and interactive in terms of economics, information exchange and air traffic, the different cultural and social traditions still remain. Despite the noticeable globalization in economics and information real cosmopolitanism did not yet succeed very widely. All this would highlight ethical questions of an intercultural character which are discussed in the present volume from an analytical, methodological, and cosmopolitan perspective.

"Debiprasad Chattopadhyaya" is professor at the University of New Delhi (India). "Jaakko Hintikka" is professor of philosophy at Boston University. "Hans Lenk" is professor emeritus at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Karlsruhe (Germany).

দেব্রীপ্রসাদ চট্টোপাধ্যায় (English: Debiprasad Chattopadhyaya) ভারতের কলকাতায় ১৯১৮ সালে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। তিনি ছিলেন ভারতের একজন প্রখ্যাত মার্ক্সবাদী দার্শনিক। তিনি প্রাচীন ভারতের দর্শনের বস্তুবাদকে উদ্ঘাটন করেছেন। তাঁর লেখাগুলো একাধারে দর্শন ও বিজ্ঞানের সমন্বয়। এছাড়াও তিনি প্রাচীন ভারতের বিজ্ঞানের ইতিহাস ও বিজ্ঞানের পদ্ধতি সম্পর্কেও গবেষণা করেছেন। তিনি ১৯৯৩ সালে কলকাতায় মৃত্যুবরণ করেন।
