Rate this book
With this book you can learn how to read the ordinary bridge deck. Based on a European gypsy method, it teaches how to lay out the cards, what they mean, how to choose a personal card, and provides a dynamic way to interpret what you see.

Although there are some fundamentals laid out in the beginning of the book, I feel the breakdown of the cards overshadows this information and makes me unwilling to use this as reference material. There is such conflicting information on each card, it’s hard to make sense of most of it.

Many of the card interpretations are frustratingly contradictory, with no coherent message. For example, a card is described as representing wish fulfillment, then in the next sentence it says the card represents deep disappointment, with no clear guidance on how to discern which applies in your reading. It’s like the author was afraid of committing to one system and wanted to cover every single base. The lack of concrete meanings makes it hard to learn how to actually read the cards.
