Jada Hawthorne is at the pinnacle of the dance pyramid-she is a prima ballerina. And, although she seems to be living out every little girl’s dream, she is restless. It has been six years since she fled from New York to Amsterdam after her musician fiancé left her for another woman, but she is ready for a change. When her best friend calls to offer her a contract with his Chicago-based contemporary ballet company, she leaps at the opportunity.

Starting over is nothing new for the ballerina, she’s good at it. So when she walks through the doors of The Peter Nederling Dance Company, she feels prepared for anything, anything that is except one member of the company’s board of directors-basketball bad boy, Jeffrey Knight.

Jeffrey Knight’s resume was, in fact, well known to her. Not only was he one of the NBA’s premier forwards, but he was as famous for his physical attributes as for his professional acumen. Although she had watched him play numerous times on television and had seen his image in magazines, on billboards, and even on the sides of buses—none of those mediums did the strikingly handsome basketball player justice, she realized in that moment. Damn Peter for withholding crucial information! She wanted to freeze-frame time, just long enough to inspect his perfectly symmetrical face; to feel the bones beneath his square jaw and angular cheekbones; to rub the backs of her fingers over the stubble on his cheeks and chin; to run her thumbs over his graceful brows and down the length of his Roman nose; to draw her index finger around his full, luscious lips; to investigate his almond-shaped eyes—a shade of green she had never seen before. Her man-trance was broken by Jeffrey Knight’s sexy and melodic baritone.
“Welcome to Chicago!” He looked at her with the confidence of a man who was used to being coveted.
“Thank you.” The ballerina took hold of his massive hand. She pretended not to feel the current that surged between them the moment they touched, but she could tell by the way he clenched his strong jaw that he felt it too. She was no sucker for beautiful men, but Jeffrey Knight radiated heat, and THAT she was a sucker for. (Dance Lessons)
