A very simple plot: a man and a woman survive the deluge that destroys the rest of the world. Being the luckiest characters I've ever read about, they happen upon an empty house, complete with farm animals, seeds, books, a violin and even a wedding gown. It also happens that the heroes, a politician and an opera singer, are very skilled in housework, cooking and raising crops and animals and they do all these while discussing philosophy.

The problem is that the story has too many improbable events to be a good book about living in the wilderness, it has too many details about daily life to be an abstract book about survival of humankind and, though it mentions love, it's far from being a love story.
