Dense and difficult to read, as I suppose any book about the Middle ages should be. Laden with place names (the castle of Saint who? In where?) and the names of princes and popes you've never heard of...so much so that the book buckles under the weight of them and almost becomes incomprehensible and useless. I cannot recommend this book.
