Developing a Professional Teaching A Guide for Success, Third Edition, offers practical, comprehensive guidelines for developing standards-based paper or electronic professional teaching portfolios. This text leads future and in-service teachers through the rigorous process of documenting the qualities of good sound planning and preparation, able classroom management, attention to quality instruction, and continuous professional growth. Real-world examples accompany expert advice on both content and presentation, encouraging the creation of an effective portfolio that correlates evidence with national and state standards.
Examples are very dated and old. It has a few good points it makes throughout the book but the technology suggestions are extremely dated for 2020. I did not find this book particularly helpful when it came to designing my portfolio website. I recommend going online and reading teacher blogs about creating your portfolio and interviewing. Along with listening to teacher Podcasts as well. There are stronger articles out there that support portfolio building and the interviewing process than this text.
This text allows teachers to create a paper or online portfolio that showcases their growth. I recommend this text to teachers who are interviewing for positions, growing within the profession and wanting to reflect on what they’ve done. The text gives examples of what should be in a portfolio and how to produce quality work on paper or online.
