Questions are important, actually most important to learn about things, ideas, people, and events. Asking questions can help us to unlock different windows of education, knowledge, and awareness. But most of the time when we ask questions we ask almost nothing or we cannot form questions as they should be formed. That's why learning how to ask question is equally important for common man as for students and teachers.

This book gives general instructions on how a teacher should ask questions to his or her pupils. This book is written for teachers, I think, but layman can use it to know the theory of asking questions which J.G. Fitch presented in the book.

He says that question shouldn't be asked in isolation but the questioner's question should be coherent, which means that all questions logically follow the next question. He also advises that teachers should observe their pupils and ask questions to them which are relevant. Moreover, a very important thing which he mentioned in this short book is instead of humiliating embarrassing or degrading students, the purpose of questions should not be to educate them.

I'm give this book three stars because this book doesn't offer what I was expecting from it. However, this book can be helpful for readers if they need general knowledge about asking questions.

i picked up the book with much anticipation since i was exploring the theme of Effective Questioning. It's quite an old book, dating back to 1879 and that shows up in the language used. Though it didn't meet my entire expectations but i wasn't completely disappointed. The basic principles of questioning are well articulated and did make a good read. I would have loved had the book delved into more aspects of questioning but nonetheless it did provide some food for thought. A detailed review at my blog http://thinkshiksha.blogspot.in

Ignore the typos and the lingo and you would enjoy the book.

Good book for teachers who love their pupil being inquisitive and learned

The book provides the learner's prospective to be learned instead of simply teaching a subject. The way examples are used is exemplary.
