I chose this book because, honestly, I needed to understand American football! And this book did just that: It has allowed me to have some sense of what the complex game of football is all about. A novice can truly appreciate this book. I think the book could benefit from diagrams (the only ones are the drawings of the penalty images) but it describes every term, every position, every strategy, every foul, every penalty, in such clear terms and with such clear language. This is the only book I saw in the library for the total beginner who watches football but has no idea what's going on and wants to. I'm reading this book in the off-season and that's okay because come the fall, I'll be ready. The detail, and attention to the detail of the game, are amazing, and there in is the real uniqueness of this book.
