The wolf days of summer are here...

Meet Jake Danes of Hudson River—Lone Wolf, avid gamer, extreme sports enthusiast, and surfer. He’s spent the last two years roaming free, exploring the world and escaping the dark place his pack had become after betrayal and murder tore them apart. Sure, life changed back home, but Jake’s having way too much fun to return—riding the waves in Monterrey and living out of a van. It’s the perfect life, one he never wants to give up, no matter how many calls he’s fielding from his big brother…then he catches her scent.

Mimi Chase wanted one perfect year. Time away from pack politics and her mother’s matchmaking efforts. Ever since her big brother settled into mating with a healer, Mimi’s mom seems to have gone into overdrive—throwing her at every eligible male in the pack. Choosing to roam seemed the best option, and California the ideal location to get away from everything pack related. Her plans for art classes, yoga on the beach, maybe a cooking lesson or two while living a hippy dippy lifestyle are all she cares about…until another wolf butts into her every activity. Doesn’t he know the rules?

Lone Wolves aren’t supposed to form relationships, so why doesn’t he catch a hint? Worse, why isn’t she working harder to make sure he does?

I love books. Not just a little bit, but a lot. Books were my best friends when I was growing up. Books didn’t care if I was new to a town or to a class. They were always there, my trustiest of companions. Until they turned on me and said I had to write them.

I can tell you that my own personal happily ever after included writing books. I’ve always said that an HEA is a work in progress. It’s true in my marriage, my friendships, and in my career. I am constantly nurturing my muse as we dive into new tales, new tropes, new characters and more.

After seventeen years back in Texas, we relocated to the Pacific Northwest in search of seasons, new experiences, and new geography. I can’t wait to discover what life (and my muse) have in store for me.

Maybe writing was always my destiny and romance my fate. After all, my grandmother wasn’t a fan of picture books and used to read me her Harlequin Romance novels.

Friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, friends to enemies to lovers, you name it, I love them and love to write them. I started with Earth Witches Aren’t Easy, the first in the Chance Monroe trilogy, but my characters and I have traveled a long way since I created that urban fantasy world.

One of the series I hear my readers recommend the most is the Untouchable series followed in quick succession by the Vandals, and that just delights me. No lie, whenever one of my readers brings up my wolves, I do a little a fist pump.

I’m active on social media, and I love hearing from readers. Feel free to tag me with a question about any of my books, or just say hi!

I've loved every book in this series that I've read - and this is no exception! Two lone wolves are enjoying time away from their packs in the summer sun of Monterrey. When they meet on the beach they're initially wary but an enforcer comes warning of rogue Russian wolves. Jake Danes is from the Hudson River pack, spending his time surfing, chilling and working. His home is his van and his favourite place is feeling like he is flying whilst surfing the waves. Well, that was true till he found Mimi Chase practicing yoga on the beach. Now he wants to protect her and so much more but the feisty, independent young lady isn't calling, so he goes searching for her....

This story has great characters with whom it is easy to empathise. The novella is written with a huge slice of humour added, with many laugh out loud moments but there is also danger, suspicion and mystery as well as romance, making it an engaging read that I didn't want to put down. It is a great finale for the previous series and a brilliant introduction to the new one which starts in January 2017 with Shadow Wolf - I can't wait to read it!

This highly talented author successfully writes a series of books with many things and characters in common yet makes each of them readable as a standalone without necessitating reading the earlier books in the series to access and enjoy them. Having said that, the series does have common threads and an overarching plot line running through it so I suspect having read the earlier books enhances the readers' enjoyment.

Many thanks to the author and publishers for gifting me an ARC of this novella in exchange for my honest review.

These tend to be good overall but every now and then you get a story that you really don’t care about or it gives nothing to what’s going on to solve any of the problems. This was one, even with the formation of the custodians it still doesn’t really make me want to read the next one. I’ll probably wait until another main character like Julian to track down Dallas are something.

For two years Jake has been having the time of his life. Following the waves and working side jobs. But lately his brother Luc been hounding him to check in more.

Mimi asked Mason's permission to roam for a year, to get away from her mother's attempts at matchmaking. Now in California, she taking all kinds of classes to learn new things.

Jake comes across Mimi while surfing, she was doing her yoga on the beach. He was curious about the beautiful wolf and uses teasing to coerce her into going for coffee with him.

I absolutely loved Mimi's snarky comebacks. 'Evading the dog catcher 101' was a favorite and had my laughing out loud.

All is not fun and games though. While perusing a bookstore Mimi encounters a female wolf and Jake intercepts her before she loses herself to her anger. Growling among the humans is frowned upon.
Mitch, who we met briefly in Snow Wolf, is their enforcer and on hearing Mimi's report on the wolf decides Jake should stay with her, at least temporarily.

Mimi and Jake do lots of fun things as they get to know each other. I love the slow build of this relationship and the surprises that get thrown in that have me itching for more.

Mitch is the messenger that gives us a glimpse of the friendship and co-operation between Mason (Willow Bend) and Brett (Hudson River) taking these books to a whole new level!

Don't miss this fun and game changing read!

Short but packs a punch! Great story and I didn’t need to have read any in the series to understand what’s going on, but it does make me want to read it just to see what happens or happened to the peripheral characters.

Just wasn’t for me, I didn’t feel any connection to either character, didn’t feel any chemistry between them and was bored with the storyline and didn’t care to find out what happens.

This one wasn't as good, imo, as the rest of the series, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

For once this novella isn't meeting-sex-sex-sex-love-more sex. Here we see them getting to know each other, and even if the love comes fast (just a week) it seems logical

Wolf on Board (Wolves of Willow Bend Book 14)
by Heather Long
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I don't know what to say about this book that would compliment it the way it should be. I thought that Heather Long wowed me with the other books in series, but this one has me so enthralled that I didn't want to come up for air.
I really enjoy reading this series they are very intriguing a real page turner and they entertain us and gives you something for the imagination always with a sexy very handsome man/shifter and a fierce and intelligent sexy woman alls i can say is her books are a real page turner and i have enjoyed reading everyone and i will keep on till shes done lol! hot and spicy and juicy i love it read it for yourself and find out!! absolutely intriguing!! Oh well who isn't ready wolf days of summer and it's finally here! Mimi Chase just wants little peace from her mother 's matching and pack politics. Since her brother's mating her mother is marching every eligible male in the pack to her. So she decided to roam, Jake Danes of Hudson River pack is a gorgeous, surfer, avid gamer, sports enthusiast and a Lone Wolf. He is ignoring his brother calls because he is busy riding waves in Monterrey and living out of his van, until he and his wolf caught her scent.

Not only is this easy to fall in love with the friendly lovers, but their supporting characters as well! The storyline and characters will keep you interested from beginning to end. The dynamics, supporting characters and backgrounds are all special just like the main couple. This is a must read for romance lovers! But I give this warning: Be prepare to get settle in for a while, because you won't want to stop reading after one chapter, you will read one more until you have read the entire story. If you love paranormal romance, go and get your copy. Without reservations, I recommend this book.
If you love a shifter romance with a lovable protective wolf shifter then this is certainly a awesome book for your library. I was gifted this book and this is my honest review.

If you believe in love in the world of paranormal romance, then possibilities are endless, but always fascinating!

Another wonderful installment in Heather Long’s Wolves of Willow Bend series! Although mainly a love story between two lone wolves, this quick read does a great job setting up the next arc in the overall series.

Jake is still trying to recover from the tragic events his pack suffered. He’s become a lone wolf, roaming around the west coast, trying to find some peace. Mimi is looking to get away from the pressures of her pack and find herself. She’s not really sure what she wants and has been given a year leave to find herself. Jake knows he wants Mimi, he just needs to figure out how to get her to give him a chance.

Once again we are treated to some great characters who can make us laugh, swoon, and keep us captivated to find out where the story is going to take us. And even though this story mainly focused on the relationship between Jake and Mimi, the foreign wolf threat is woven into their story to give a wonderful tie in to the previous books in the series and also set up the next set of books.

I can’t say enough about this world that Heather Long has created. Although this can be read as a standalone, there is so much to this world it would be a shame not to treat yourself to the entire series! Another great read by Heather Long that I would highly recommend.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

Jake Danes, ex Hudson River pack, has been a lone wolf for the last few years. He follows the waves surfing and only working when he needs to. He lives in his van and has no one to answer to but himself.

Mimi Chase is on a self discovery adventure...and avoiding her mothers matchmaking. She never envisioned bumping into a wolf from a pack she knew never mind have him insert himself into her life. But when danger encroaches on Mimi's life, she unwillingly allows Jake to assist, after all he was training as a Hunter before he went Lone. But can Mimi survive the biggest danger of all...Jake wants something more than a fling with her...he wants forever!

Brilliantly written characters with a good dose of humour and witty banter between them. The tension ramps at a good pace with the introduction of a kidnapped human, who just happens to be part of the pack. Jake and Mimi are a brilliant team following the clues to her whereabouts. The introduction of a new class of wolf profession lends another layer to the world. This can be read alone but the threads are laid throughout the series of books and you may want to read them in order.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

When it comes to writing paranormal romance about wolf’s shifter…Heather Long rates right up there with Nalini Singh, Thea Harrison and Suzanne Wright. In Heather Long latest book in the Wolves of Willow Bend series, we are introduced to two wolves how seriously have nothing in coming, one is serious while the other is laid back.
Jake Danes just want to catch the next waves, not spending time fielding phone calls from his big brother. But surfing can what when he catches her scent.
Mimi Chase has her own problems…namely her matchmaking mother. Ever since her brother found his mate, her mother has been throwing every eligible wolf at her. To escape she decided to become a lone wolf temporarily. But being a lone wolf took on a whole new meaning when Jake plopped into her world.
I found that the characters were well developed, the story had its moments where you find yourself laughing out loud. However, in between the humorous moments Heather Long found time to make sure to include suspense and a plenty of hot scenes between our two main characters. Wolf on Board was a wonderful interlude before her next full length novel Shadow Wolf goes on sale next year.

This is book 9.5 in this series and would suggest reading the other books before reading this one. But could be a standalone. Jake is a lone wolf from Hudson River roaming free in California. Living the good life- working, surfing and living in his van -the beach is his home. When he catches a she wolf sent- Mimmi Chase is taking a break from her pack and Mom's matchmaking and enjoying life. But these to meet and connect but something else is going on and they are the perfect couple to deal with it. A fun and sexy book that a great short bridge between books. Jake Danes is a werewolf who loves surfing and living without a pack. After family drama in the past he left his pack to enjoy the nomad life. Now he spends his days enjoying the simple life living out of his van and surfing. When he smells another wolf in the area he follows his nose to find Mimi Chase. At first she wants nothing to do with the surfer bum Jack appears to be, until they have one date, and another. When a lone wolf makes contact through Jack and Mimi are thrown together to stay hidden at Mimi’s house.

Wolf on Board is a simple easy read. Nothing complex about the plot or the characters. Everything is pretty base level simple. Jack and Mimi are nice enough characters. The story was enjoyable enough and it’s a pretty quick read.

I would recommend this book if you’re looking for a quick read with some hot scenes.

Wonderful!

What can I say? The newest edition of the Willow Bend series was absolutely wonderful. Heather Long truly has a gift for creating such vivid worlds and those who inhabit them are all unique - you can almost feel they are real. Mimi and Jake were both amazing. You can see hints of their siblings in them, but they are definitely their own people.

I would love to go on a roam like this...feeling so carefree and like the sky is the limit. A lot happened in this little novella, but my favorite part was the easy breezy domesticity of Mimi and Jake together. Both characters are well fleshed and you even get to know Mitch the Enforcer a little bit better. I absolutely cannot wait for the next installment of this fantastic series!

Another great story by Heather Long!!!

This is the story of Mimi and Jake!

I so loved both of them!!

They are both running away from their packs but for different reasons and at some point the same as well.
When trouble comes knocking their door they are forced to stay close to one another and a love starts to bloom.

I have to say that with Willow Bend Wolves i always enjoy the book.
Truth is that if the book was 500 pages instead of 150 i still would love to read it!
They are never enough!
Absolutely amazing characters as well as an intresting and intriguing plot that makes you want to read more and more and more!!!
I can't wait to see what is in store for us in the future!
A must must must must must read!!!!

Amazing!

In my life after this one. If I am limited to just one bookshelf. This entire series will be on it.
The promise of the sun on the horizon followed him as Jake Danes navigated his van into a parking spot. Running his hand
through his hair, he freed his ponytail before wrapping the band around the gearshift. Two years of roaming had left him with shoulder length hair and a scruffy appearance so far away from his family’s clean-cut image, he couldn’t help but enjoy it. Shutting off the engine, he slid the key into a slot under the driver’s seat. ~Heather Long~
There is your taste. Of this very awesome read. Happy one clicking!

Jake Danes is a laidback surfer dude type of guy but that isn’t all he is. He is also a skilled hunter with a past. He has been surfing the world trying to find his way back to himself. When Mimi Chase winds up on the same beach as him he is a goner. He just doesn’t know it yet.
Jake reminds me a bit of Deeks from NCIS LA blonde, goofy, with the appearance of not taking anything too seriously. I like Mimi, she is strong, talented and searching for her future. She just didn’t expect to find it in Jake.
Wolf on Board is a transition book. Leaving one arc and entering another. I look forward to seeing where Ms. Long is going to take us.

Loved it - Jake starts out as an easy-breezy surfer and ends up as Hero with depth and character and has some of the most romantic dialogue I have read in a long time. Heroine Mimi is uptight but very gifted, and I love how her gift with scents translates into her cooking abilities. Great setup for next book in Willow Bend Series...only complaint was that it was too short - more please Heather and soon.

5 Stars - going on my 2016 Favourites List.

Hang loose dude

Jake is a lade back kinda guy until she appears. Mimi is exploring life to her hearts content and Jake just waltzes in. Now they are watching each other's back and looking for missing pack members.

Mostly a prelude for the next book

Not bad but not particularly great either. No real chemistry or depth of emotion. It really just felt like a set up for the next book. I will read the upcoming book but I can't say this book is something I'd come back to and read again.

Nice lead-in for Series

Very short and sweet romance which also serves to introduce a new role into the Willow Bend world. Good set up for the next full length novel in the series with two more characters to welcome into the ever-expanding cast of characters in this series.
