Good, but confusing

I like this author but this one was just a little too confusing. It's a good murder mystery: New agent goes undercover to a Vampire Dating Agency because fifteen you women are dead who have attended the agency functions. This book was hard to follow even though I had just read the first book in t he series. Characters from book 1 appear in this book without proper foundation. The story flits from scene to scene without proper foundation. There are so many characters it is hard to keep everyone straight. The author is writing this fast ( a book a month?) based on publication dates. She is obviously totally submerged in this story. The problem is that is jumps around so fast, its like someone with ADD on speed. There are so many dangling threads in this story that the final? book/books will be challenged to tie them up in a coherent fashion. Yes, I will see if it's accomplished. But, I strongly recommend the reader binge read these books together. Worth reading but, an extra sentence or two as characters from the first book are plopped into this book would have definitively helped. The writing style is also interesting as the unidentified killer thoughts are presented as an integral part of the story. A complicated story worth reading. Hopefully the next book will be a little easier to follow as the conclusion should be a good one.

Revenge

It drives to places you never could imagine. Every move Haley makes just pushes her farther down the rabbit hole. Can't wait to find out where she lands.

Haley works for the paranormal police and in book 1 she was sent in undercover to identify suspects in a serial killer case.
***
Kid2 rang to say he had dislocated his knee and we spent a lot of time with the ambulance officer, at the medical centre, waiting for X-rays, and MRIs. To help the waiting pass I opened the first thing in my kindle. Bad, bad mistake. I was already having a trying day.
The figure remained there for a moment. His shoulders broad and still. His dark hair paused. (Kindle Locations 71-72)

His HAIR paused????
This book has no editor. It’s so overwritten. Don’t tell readers what a person does to answer the phone or get out of bed … you know?
Her husband verbalized his frustrations and surprise, taking hold of the boy to protect him from her. (Kindle Locations 239-241)

Ewww.
Nothing is ‘said’ - it’s all verbalised, asserted, shrilled, shouted etc. Or it goes in waves; two pages of that and then they forget and go back to said. Said is better.
“The facts as they are presented to me, are that Madame Nightshade attacked Haley, and Haley disposed of her in self-defense.” (Kindle Locations 331-332).

Nobody talks like this. Madame Nightshade is the Count’s daughter. He uses her name. If you’re talking to him, use her name. [oh, and ‘your’ and ‘you’re’ are clearly a problem for the writer, too.]
“Haley said Arianne attacked her. It was self defense.”
There. Fixed it.
They are looking for a serial killer in a house of vampires. It’s like looking for a needle in a stack of needles. And it was Haley’s first day and they sent her in as an undercover agent and fake date for the vampires. An untrained teenager on her first day. Why?
And then this Nadine chick shows up.
A few people nearby backed away in terror, but the crowd was too infatuated with the music to see what had happened.(Kindle Locations 674-675).

Infatuated? No. Put away the thesaurus. It took her minutes to walk to the front of the stage in a bar? Either it’s a mile long, or she walks realllllly realllllly slowlllllly
She slaughters half a dozen innocent bystanders, gets up on stage and takes the guitar from the band, more people die, the guitarist turns into a weretiger whom she kills - all because the guitar was stolen. At least, I think that was the point of this scene. It has no relevance to the story otherwise.
Wow. A trifle excessive, eh?
Guess who the new agent is that the boss is sending to the vampire dating agency?
Okay. But why didn’t they send her first?
Then the others drop Haley home to find out
At this point… I gave up. Waiting room magazines were better.
Did not finish at 35%

Ummm...I'm not sure what to say about this book. It was seriously messed up. Really! Trippy as s**t! If the storyline trying to catch the serial killer wasn't so engaging and the characters more and more intreguing I don't know if I would have finished it. But wow, Haley is a badass! But not near like Nadine apparently. I hope we get to find out more about Nadine in upcoming books.
This book had such an abrupt ending that there's no way I can't read the next book.

Poor Haley can't catch a break. It seems this vampire is out to hurt her in the worst way. There have been too many deaths so far, she doesn't want to be another one. But how can she stop him from ruining get life

This series went from a reasonably stupid young woman with allegedly high test scores... to being glorified rape porn. Bravo!
