The true story of 18-year-old Danielle, who leaves her comfortable home to move into a cramped apartment with her controlling boyfriend. At first everything seems exciting and foreign. Soon, though, their small space seems to get smaller, she starts to miss the comforts of home, the peace and quiet of her own room, and her family. Her boyfriend insists as long as they're together, all is good, but he's becoming more and more unstable with each passing week. After three months, Danielle realizes she's made a mistake by moving in with him and his friends, but now the consequences are real. She is pregnant. How will Danielle navigate her way through the heart-wrenching decision making process of doing what is best for her baby? With the help of her family and an unlikely support network, Danielle will come to see how one decision can cause a ripple effect that changes the lives of herself, those she loves and some she has never even met before. This true story will show how bad choices can be used by God to bring joy to so many, and how there is much more to adoption than the world thinks.

I requested this book via Netgalley although I was a bit conflicted about it to be honest. I will get a bit deeper into this conflict in the actual review.
So first to the question: What is it about?
We start with Danielle's perspective. Danielle is living with her boyfriend after she moved out from her parents age 18. Over the time she finds herself in an abusive relationship, something she doesn't want to see at first but something her family had been seeing all a long. As it wasn't already bad enough Danielle gets pregnant. In her desperation she turns back to her family asking for their help and support. During her journey she is faced by the question of whether to keep the baby or to give it up for adoption.
This book doesn't just gives us Danielle's perspective but also her mothers who has been by her side all along and who tells how she experienced all this.
This wasn't it. Last but not least the adoptive father tells the story of the adoptive parents, Danielle has chosen for her baby.
This story is incredible honest, not sugar coating anything. Especially Danielle's perspective was captivating. Seeing her making her choice and how she prepared herself and later on lived with it...I can't find words for it.
So now we are at my conflict. I am by no means religious but I also don't judge people for their beliefs. I wanted to read this book for the adoptional aspect of it. This book is highly Christian, for me personally it was a bit too much, but I knew that before I requested it, so I decided to focus on the adoption and the process and feelings they all went through. And for that I am giving 5 out of 5 stars, because it couldn't have been more honest.
I think this book is such a great read and teaches so much. I really liked it and am thankful that I got an ARC.
I received a copy of this book free from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review. Thank you.
This book is about 18 year old pregnant Danielle who is living with her boyfriend who is abusive. She manages to get back to her family but is plagued with the question if she wants to keep her baby or not. Will she be able to provide for her wither current lifestyle?
The book gives as a few perspectives including Danielle’s mother and is very honest.
The book is pretty religious (Christian in fact) but I can relate to it as I’m a Muslim their God is our God and all that. It didn’t bother me much but I guess it could have done without the religious themes for other readers.
This book taught me that there is more than ne side of the story. Adoption isn’t evil, the mother is simply giving away the baby to loving parents in hopes that they can give the child a happy and fulfilled life that she cannot not.
However this book seemed autobiographical and was not what I expected, it was more narrative and I wanted dialogue and because of the various perspectives it did get a little tedious with the repetition.

A true story - and an absolute must read.
A carefree happy 18 year old totally in love with a controlling, manipulating, drug abusing boyfriend. Danielle ends up pregnant and soon realizes that she needs to put the need of her unborn child first.
It was a rocky road for Danielle and her mother who just wanted to support her daughter with the hope that she will make the right decisions for her and her unborn child.
This book teaches the sides of adoption that you don't see or normally read about, together with being a christian based book.
Such a moving book! A carefree, happy 18 year old Danielle who is in love with her boyfriend, decides to leaves home to be with her home. However, the apartment is small and soon she finds herself pregnant. This book teaches the sides of adoption that you don't often see unless you are in. I got this on a review.
There was a sense of urgency throughout the entire book. I had trouble focusing at times because the story was all-over the place. I liked the message that God's plans always are better and go beyond anything we dream, think, or imagine.
An incredibly moving book. Based on real life events. At times heartbreaking.
Danielle is a 18 year old girl. Care free and happy. In love with her boyfriend. Decides to leave home and move into a cramped apartment with her love.
Everything seems to be going really well. It is exciting moving into a new house and Danielle is over the moon to be sharing this experience with her boyfriend. So what if the apartment is so small there isn't room to swing a cat. They have each other and that's all that matters.
Soon Danielle's boyfriend is telling her what to do and has become controlling. Their small apartment no longer feels safe and happy but more like a prison.
Danielle misses her family, her old house, bedroom and her space and freedom.
Danielle's boyfriend keeps telling her that as long as they have each other. Nothing else matters and everything is good. But his behaviour is getting worse and worse and Danielle is no longer sure those words are true.
Danielle soon finds herself pregnant. She is sure that giving her child up for adoption is what is best for the baby. Not knowing that this decision will change the life of her, her family and people she hasn't even met yet forever.
This story shows how bad decisions can sometimes have the happiest if outcomes, and it shows a different side to adoption that doesn't get written about very often.
An incredibly moving and poignant read that will make you think.
