Excerpt from Elements of Botany: Prepared for the Use of Schools and Colleges
We regard the introduction of these works into our public schools, among the highest compliments they have received; for we feel sure that the gentlemen who constitute the committee for selecting books, possess too much discernment and general knowledge, to pass favourably upon works of inferior pretensions. The following gentlemen composed the Committee for selecting books for the use of Public Schools. George M. Wharton, Esq.

I actually enjoyed it a lot. It's a solid base for people who are just getting into botany and want to understand what it's all about without buying new books or sacrificing a lot of time. The audiobook version is a pleasant experience while gardening or doing household chores.

Found this on my AudioBooks app. I don't exactly agree with it being a good introduction, but then again I listened to it while trying to fall asleep in bed.

Good systematic walk-through of scientific terms and taxonomic branches. However the information is outdated, being from a time when fungi were considered as plants.

A 5hr long audiobook, this book was great for what I think of as basics for botany. I would encourage almost everyone in the world should know at least half of this book. It basically tells of many natural wonders we have around the world, aka plants.
