Through a crazy twist of fate, Caroline Clemmons was not born on a Texas ranch. To make up for this tragic error, she writes about handsome cowboys, feisty ranch women, and scheming villains in a small office her family calls her pink cave. She and her Hero live in North Central Texas cowboy country where they ride herd on their rescued cats and dogs. Ophelia is the most shy and shameless creature you'll ever meet but not according to her father. Before she dies of his abuse she gets away with her best friend and confidant. Starting over in a new town was the best thing she did, especially when she fell in love. Just when her wedding was a few days off though someone from her past shows up unwelcome. Due to quick thinking of her fiance they were able to thwart bad things from happening to Ophelia. This is a truly delightful take on western life and I found it very enjoyable. You will love this great historical adventure!
This is a sweet and loving story by Caroline Clemmons. She has done a great job with the plot and with the characters. I think you will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.
What a wonderful Book this was..Great characters and a great story too.Ilove being able to pick up one of these books and dive into familiar characters.
The town of Tarnation, Texas has no single females of marriageable age. The single men of the town are threatening to move to larger towns to find a wife which would cause Tarnation to die out. Young widow Lydia Harrison travels to her home state of Virgina where she places an ad in the newpaper and interviews several young women who are interested in moving west to marry. Seven young women ultimately head west with Lydia and her friend Sophie; each girl escaping something or someone and looking for acceptance and love.
A well written series with interesting characters. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series as well.
Another wonderful read from Caroline Clemmons. I've enjoyed each of the books in the Bride Brigade series and looked forward to reading Ophelia's story. I wasn't disappointed. After her brutal upbringing at the hands of her father, will Ophelia find the gentle love she needs in her life? Could Elias offer her the security and love she needs or will his occupation stand in the way of Ophelia's strict mindset? This is a lovely love story for everyone.
Ophelia has a rough start in life with a cruel and abusive father. She joined s the bride brigade and goes to Tarnation Texas and meets a man that has her heart but she is afraid that his life is not something she can condone as he owns the saloon and the opera house . Elias is determined to win her heart. This story makes you root for the shy woman and the saloon owner. Waiting for book 5 of the bride brigade
I enjoyed this 4th book in the Bride Brigade. Loved the characters and well written as always. This can be read as a stand alone book, but more fun to read the first three before this one, to connect all the characters. A clean and sweet read. Looking forward to the next one. JudyE
