, I'll always be very tempted to give this book as low as a 2-star rating, and tbh, I like this book even less than I do

, which is a complete shame cuz as an ex-CIA agent, 莫森 should have been a dang interesting character, but to me the book was just very bleh.... not memorable at all.
The one and only saving grace is the climax act, which I would not spoil because, well, I don't want to spoil the only good thing in the book (imo, that is).
The incident was referenced in the sequel series, and personally, as someone who didn't read the prequels first, I'd say it'd make sense if you did read this book prior to tackling the sequel series. Sure, you can say it's just a backstory, but I think the said backstory has quite a huge impact towards a certain character, that makes this book completely worthwhile just to read that particular part.
