Ditch the Stock Market Game, Learn How to Get Safety and Returns in Bond Investing
Of all the opportunities to invest and make money, bond investing is likely one of the most neglected. Stocks are the get-rich investment, hyped by Wall Street and favored by investors. Commodities are widely used to hedge risk and to gamble on price changes. Even real estate is more widely held for its cash flow and other benefits.

According to research by fund manager Vanguard, the average investor holds just15% of their portfolio in bonds. Since older investors typically hold much more of their investments in fixed-income, it's safe to assume that many younger investors are neglecting bond investment all together.

What you might not realize is that bonds are critical to reaching your financial goals. No other investment provides the kind of safety and security you'll get from bonds and few other investments provide the kind of cash flow you'll get from these fixed-income opportunities.

In fact, manage your bonds right and you might not need much more to meet your financial goals. You'll get stable returns for decades and won't have to worry about constant crashes in the stock market. You'll get nearly guaranteed cash flows to pay for expenses and the retirement you deserve.

Putting a portfolio of bonds together that will meet your goals can be surprisingly easy if you know where to start. Understand bond basics and how to avoid the mistakes that cost other investors money and you'll find an investment that's easier to manage than any other while moving you closer to financial freedom.

This book will do exactly that, help you put together a step-by-step investing strategy in bonds to understand how much of your portfolio to invest and how to do it.

In this book you'll learn:

* The five risks in bond investing, which can be reduced and how to avoid some altogether (pg 12)

* Why investors neglect bonds and how you can use the asset class to reach your goals (pg 16)

* The four types of bonds that should be in everyone's portfolio (pg 25)

* How to put together a simple bond investing strategy to cover monthly living expenses without having to sell your investments (pg 50)

* How to manage your bond investing strategy to minimize costs and maximize return (pg 53)

I love talking investments and personal finance!!

*Stop by my two blogs: PeerFinance101.com and Crowd101.com *

Born and raised in Iowa, I graduated from Iowa State University after serving in the Marine Corps. I started my professional career as a commercial real estate agent and in corporate finance before finding my passion for investment analysis. I still love real estate as an investment and have managed my own rental properties since 2002.

After working as an investment analyst for nearly a decade, I decided to start two blogs on personal finance and crowdfunding. Finance in America is opening up to everyone through peer lending and crowdfunding and it is helping people do some pretty amazing things. I enjoy talking about how people can use the two 'alternative' funding sources in their everyday financial lives.

I've appeared on Bloomberg as an expert in emerging market investing and have led a team of equity analysts for sell-side research (stock investing research). Besides running two blogs, PeerFinance101 and Crowd101, I still work as a freelance investment analyst for advisors and institutional investors.

I hold the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, the gold standard for ethical and professional conduct in investment management, as well as a Masters in Business and dual degrees in finance and communications.

Short, elementary, not much more than what you'd get from a web page on bond investing. I guess I found out some new stuff, and knew the page count when I bought it. But it wasn't that groundbreaking. Also, the audiobook must have been done in a single take, because there are uncorrected slip-ups every minute or so.

While not thorough or produced well, this book is really succinct and valuable. He walks you through the basics and a few specific actions you can take. I think this uniquely furthered my understanding of the subject with a relatively small investment for time and cognitive dissonance.

This is a good primer about investing in bonds and bond funds for the individual investor. The booklet is 60 pages and can be read in 2 hours.
A better primer and only bond book the ordinary investor will need is Russell Wild's "Investing in Bonds for Dummies" any and all editions.

Clear and Concise

I aced bond math in grad B-school, but wanted to know more about the gotchas of actual bond investing, as an average investor, this book was very useful. It confirmed much of what I already knew, but also gave me pointers on how to go about getting low-fee bonds in the maturities I wanted, and reminded me of strategies for evening out returns, e.g., ladders.
