Amélie S. Duncan writes contemporary, erotic romances. Her inspiration comes from many sources including her life experiences and travels. She lives on the West Coast of the United States with her husband.
4.5 Brody is heartbreakingly incredible stars. This book picks up right where the first one left off and that, my friends, is where the heartache is. Piper finds herself struggling to pull everything together when she's nursing a broken heart and the loss of financial help from her mother. Brody struggles with his decision to let Piper go and in the process breaking her heart as well as his own. Emotionally charged, sexually charged and downright intoxicating.
Piper's life continues to shift as she's faced with the knowledge that Jorge, her best friend, is actually in love with her, that she will have to figure out a way to pay for college on her own, and that she and Brody might have a chance. Piper decides to sell her father's motorcycle in hopes of gaining enough money to pay for school which leads Brody right back to her. She never dreamed he'd be walking back into her life, that he'd want to see her and be with her, but there he was and he made his play.
Brody was in love with Piper. Yeah, he admitted it to himself and so makes the decision to do what he can for her and try. He knows his loyalties and love belong to Seren and Cole but he can't shake that Piper's part of him, too. He goes out of his way to fit Piper into his life and fit into her life. Things are shaky and strained but they somehow get it together until it all comes crashing down.
The book leaves you on a cliffhanger but one that shows you that Piper has truly found herself. She makes a decision that will most likely alter her entire life but she is more than okay with that because she recognizes where her heart and loyalties truly lie. This book will keep you ensnared in its world until the last word and leave you wanting to read the next one. As expected, Amelie S. Duncan has crafted yet another incredible read.
Well, the last one ended with Piper gutted, broken hearted at leaving Brody. When push came to shove he'd chosen not to give them a chance and she's grieving. But school beckons, she's still got to find a way to pay for tuition, find somewhere to live, a job for food and lodgings after the huge fallout with her mum. What a sleaze that Royce is, but it's him her mum believes and poor Piper needs to sort finances out ASAP.
Brody didn't want to leave her but feels her career comes first, he can see how excited she gets talking about it and thinks being involved with him will just drag her down. Seren needs him and Cole ( ack!) is relying on him. He feels he owes him for their childhood and genuinely loves Seren as part of the family.
I love Brody but boy - the way he feels he owes Cole and is willing to give up love to take his place really gets me. Cole - in my opinion - is just being selfish. He loves Seren, she's been seriously ill, close to death and needs him but...he wants to stay with his career and leaves the day to day stuff to Brody??? Who does that? That makes me So Mad. I'm sure he could have left early, got compassionate leave, something...but he seems content to play ostrich, he stays at work, and Seren stays well. He needs a kick up the a rse IMO. Sadly his attitude is actually very real. One in four relationships fail when someone is diagnosed with cancer. I was lucky, but an online friend wasn't. Her husband just couldn't cope with her being so very ill :-( So even though I hate Cole for it his reaction is very true to life.
There's some shakeups in this book, Piper's life was turned on its head meeting Brody, and now she can't go back. He's "in" her, changed her, and she misses him. He's missing her too, Seren is angry at his choice, she was scared and did ask him to stay but didn't mean him to drop Piper, and she's trying hard to make things right.
Cole's home now and can see for himself now just how sick she is, and though Brody's been to all her appointments and knows her position it feels like Cole has just been kidding himself, telling himself if he can't see it then it hasn't happened. Now though Seren is right in front of him, pale, thin, in pain and the Doctors are telling him just how ill she is. Seren never gives in though and plans something special, something that will bring everyone she loves together again including, she hopes, Brody and Piper. Cole was awful to Piper in book one but when he meets her he can see how much she means to Brody and him to her. I still don't like him but I don't dislike him as much :-)
Its great to catch up with the biker gang again, meet Pipers slightly dotty Aunt Luna, (and I love her character!) get to know Seren, Brody and Cole as a unit, see Jorge and his friend/girlfriend Nora, and of course we meet Matt, bane of Pipers Freshman year but now her study partner in Professor G's Ten,
Its another heart tugging read, rollercoastering from highs to low, from things looking up to them dropping right down again. Drama all the way, just how I love it. I'm really keen to see how Amelie wraps it all up.
Review of Piper Dreams by Amelie Duncan Piper is just like a lot of us…living day to day and just going through the motions. However, she’s not really living and actually participating in her life. She may as well be a voyeur of her own journey. Until she meets Brody and Seren. Brody is accompanying Seren on a cross-country trip marking things off her bucket list as they go. She convinces them to allow her to join them on this adventure to document everything for Seren’s group, the Biker Babes. They are a free-spirited group of women who are also in remission from cancer. Can this bunch of strangers show Piper how to live and enjoy each day as it comes? Sometimes, you have to suffer some heartbreak in order to truly appreciate love. I love the writing style of Amelie Duncan. She provides great imagery of every aspect of the storyline from the characters all the way to their surroundings. As for the hotness factor, off the charts! [I’ll give a little hint for a smoking one, potluck dinner and “run”.] Holy wow! This story does have a cliffhanger ending so be prepared to wait for more. I give Piper Dreams 4 halos. *I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Review of Guided Love by Tracie Redmond I absolutely loved this book! I felt like Samantha “Sam” was completely relatable. I could see a lot of myself in her at times. There were other times when I wanted to just shake some sense into her as well. She has been in love with her best friend, Camaron for as long as she can remember. However, in my opinion Camaron doesn't know how to be a friend to anyone. Then Sam meets Axel who is Camaron's business partner. I LOVE Axel!!! It's because of Axel that we get to meet the biggest hidden gem of this story, Ellie (lovingly also known as Ma). Now, this is a lady I would love to meet. Her character made this book for me. Her "words of wisdom" are so spot on that if we all follow her advice then we will have an amazing life. “The right person will look at you and see perfection.” "Family is those who you surround yourself with, those who will love you for who you are and be there without hesitation when you need them." The writing style of Tracie Redmond completely sucked me right into this storyline. I loved the way she developed the characters and didn't rush any aspect of the relationships. I give Guided Love 4.5 halos. I can not wait to read more from Ms. Redmond! *I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review Review by Shannon for Two Feisty Angels and A Devil Blog
This is what I know about Amelie S. Duncan. She writes and rewrites until she has perfection. And, she has succeeded because Piper Dreams is perfection. I really Loved this book. I was hooked from the beginning of Piper & Brody’s story as it continues in the second book in this series.
Why is it that I had tears in my eyes at the end of this book? Because I was so involved with this book and then it happened. Yes, there is a cliffhanger. I should have known but, I lost track of where I was because I was so involved with reading this book that I wasn’t aware that I was at the end of Piper Dreams. I hope there isn’t a long wait for the next book. So many things happened that I wish I could talk about but, can’t because I don’t do spoilers. I LOVED this book!
Oh and I absolutely love Aunt Luna!
My wishes for the next book are:
Please do not let anything happen to Seren! I love that girl.
Please have Piper and Jorge make up!
I received a complimentary copy of Piper Dreams for an honest review. But, I also bought this book! Because I feel that Amélie S. Duncan deserves a verified purchase by Amazon. I love this book and series and I give Piper Dreams 5+++ Stars. I hope you love the book as much as I did if you decide to read this book.
Book 2 my heart is on overload and I don't think my heart will slow down soon.Love and what we go through, piper and Brody are going through right now but I'm hoping for a happy ending,I hope you make dreams come true because I'm starting book 3.I have enjoyed both books to the highest, you kept me on the edge of my seat. Can't wait to see where you take the lovers next.
Amélie S. Duncan's "Piper Dreams: Make it Happen" is the second book in the Dreams series. Once again, there is a great ensemble cast, and a lot going on. Amélie weaves a very detailed story line that you won't want to miss a moment of. As usual, the sexy scenes are panty melters! I can't wait to read #3. I hope it's coming soon!
I loved the storyline but at times felt the dialogue was convoluted and choppy. It made it hard to follow at times. I loved all the characters and will definitely read the third one. Just disappointed by the way this one was written since I devoured the first one.
