I bought this Graphic Novel after reading the novel. The author told me that the novel has more story, which is true, but I wanted to read the comic version as well. WOW. For a first time indie comic, over 200 pages, this was incredible. The art is fantastic. The pacing is on point. I am happy to have this as a companion to the novel. I thought the graphic novel was written to stand alone, as in it make sense and didn't require you to have read the novel. It was written a bit differently from the book, and I liked that as well. Great characters, great story, great artwork. I also picked up the Noir edition (black and white) and I think both the color and b/w versions are a pleasure to read.
I kicked started this book, because I was intrigued by the story and captivated with the artwork. The final project did not disappoint. The only negative thing I can say about the book is that I want the second part to be out already!
Got the chance to check out a local book convention this past weekend and came across an indie author named Josh Howell. He was selling this graphic novel, along with the novel version. He was asking reasonable prices and had a combo deal, so I bought both. I really enjoyed it! The comic is written slightly differently than the novel, and so I liked that aspect. The illustrations are neat in style, and the layout is very reader friendly. Great book, would love to see a movie on it.
I bought this book on a whim at New York Comic Con. The author was there debuting this version, and the novel version. I bought both, as I wanted to see the difference, and I am SUPER GLAD I DID. I'll leave a review for the novel on that page, but I absolutely adored this book. The artwork is incredible and the style fits the gritty tone of the book. There are several twists that kept me guessing, and I liked how it paid homage to other sci-fi properties without ripping them off. Very impressed with this book, and so glad I took the chance on it out of all the indie booths at NYCC. Hope there's a sequel in some form.
This was a TREAT! I really dug the novel, and this was like watching the film adaption. Not as full-bodied as the novel, but it looked very nice and I totally enjoyed it from front to back. I was surprised, honestly, that it was an indie graphic novel and not attached to some big comic group. It was put together very well, all in all.
Not sure how this book is as good as it is, but I rank it as high as some of my favorite non-superhero comics. I read this first, then bought the novel. I love how it's sci-fi, but it's based so much in today's world that it doesn't feel far fetched. The main character, Riley, is an AWESOME lead chick. She's tough, smart, rebellious and strong. I can't wait to get my copy signed at C2E2.
