This is a short tale of a French skateboarding cat named Leo. As the reader you meet Leo and go along on a little skate with him! The story is bi-lingual and perfect for introducing a new language in a funny way to young children.
The story is vibrant and has pop up speech bubble flaps to open. I have used this with groups of about 6 children, firstly teaching them hello, numbers 1-3 and good bye in French. Then after this intro we read the story of Leo together, there is plenty of opportunity for learning new pronunciations of words through short and snappy repetition. When we talk to Leo he answers our questions in French, we lift the flap to see what he says and repeat the words. Children like the fun tone and actions that come with the story and as a lovely little bonus the back page contains a follow on activity full of words like walk, dance, stop and jump...this is great to get the children moving at the end of a session whilst keeping the learning of early French exciting!
