A sweet, clean and wholesome historical western mail order bride short story romance
When Hannah's whole word falls apart, she decides to take her friends advice and become a mail-order bride in order to get far away from an evil step-father.
Max Ward was determined to turn the townsfolk around. His father had destroyed that trust, it was his job to save the family name. Ordering a mail order bride was the first step.
Would the two be able to conquer their fears and the townsfolk's scorn or would they be run out of Wichita Falls for good?
Wichita Falls is a small, American historical western frontier town on the Texas prairie. Enjoy these short reads as each event brings another character to the frontier town, helping it to grow into one of the finest western towns of all times filled with romance and love.
Oh, my heart! These two had some serious romance going on!
Hannah was living in NYC with a drunk for a stepfather who had her working in a factory and then having to hand over all her earnings to him each week. She was keeping a little each time and hiding it away so she could make her escape. Unfortunately, he found it one day. Her friend, Becky, had given her a copy of the Matrimonial Times to help her get away.
Max Ward is the son of the evil Byron Ward from Lily’s story. Thankfully, he was killed by the US Marshals. Max is in Wichita Falls to sell of his property and then intends to go back to his home in Arizona. But he needs a marriage in name only to endear himself to the townsfolk who are shunning him.
The sparks are flying between these two, even though they came together as only a business area. Thankfully, it didn’t take long for them to realize they were meant to be together. I love it when there’s not much conflict with couples in these stories ❤️
Hannah lived with a step-father who demanded she give her entire pay and threatened to allow his friends to introduce her to pleasing a man. She had been given a newspaper ad for a Mail Order Bride agency by a friend and decided she had to leave immediately. She left on the train to Wichita Falls. She met a man, Max Ward, who was the grandson of a cattle rustler. Max had been hanged, but townspeople still shunned anyone who lived on or worked on the ranch.
Hannah met Max, they grew to love one another and they were married. They set out to make amends to the town by having an auction to build a schoolhouse for the town. Did this work? Read this to find out. I really enjoyed this book!
this was a good story. I love reading any books by Cyndi Raye. Hannah came by a mail order brides after her step father threatened her with his friends. She had worked hard and long hours and was saving money in a hole in the wall behind a picture. when he stole the money that was literally the last straw. whe went to a woman who set her up with Max and together they became quite the team. read the book and find out what they went through to get the town to like them because of Max's father's dirty dealings.
Hannah has a very bad stepfather who takes all her pay. Her friend tells her how to become a mail order bride. She gets the courage and makes the step. Enjoy.
Her Step Father found her money and it forced her to make a change
Her friend was going to be a mail order bride and when her Step Father took her money she had no other choice then to become one like her friend. Liked the way the author wrote that.
I've always enjoyed Cyndi's books and this a good example. Hannah escapes her stepfather by becoming a mail - order bride to Max, to find that they are shunned by the townsfolk due to his terrible father. Characters that you feel for have you rooting for a happy outcome.
I enjoyed this story, but thought the townsfolk were super shallow! First, treating them terribly because of his father, then welcoming them because of the auction. It just didn't make sense.
I loved this book as I have loved the other books in this series. What I love is people from the previous books show up in the other stories. I highly recommend this book and series.
Very likable characters! I won't leave any spoilers but if you read one of the prequels (Lily), there are storyline & plot errors in Hannah. If you can ignore that though, it is a charming story!
Solid four stars Very nice storyline and telling if the story itself. Fir my advanced reading preteen friends that parents are previewing their reading this book is a little bit different than those in the series as it has a bit more curse words (not bad ones but still curse words) and it has way to much talk of sexual stuff to have a young one read about. Still considered on the clean side for clean romance but for mature adults knowing what they mean by the phrases they use etc. do I would recommend you as an adult readit first to see if you want your advanced preteen reading it. It is a stand alone (as they all are) so your child could still read the rest in the series dnd not miss much at all. Now onto the next in line,...
A very sweet romance. A clean read that can be read in one sitting. Changing the minds of the whole town and persistence was very strong points in the read. It makes me feel like there is hope out there for people to change. The story has a happy ending even with the rough starts both the main characters had.
