Who Pooped in the Park?
Who Pooped in the Sonoran Desert? - Scat and Tracks for Kids
This charming tale of Michael, Emily, and their parents as they explore the Sonoran Desert is designed to both entertain and educate. Wildlife can be elusive, and both kids are disappointed when at first they don't encounter many animals in the park. The kids quickly learn, however, that there are animals all around, and these creatures leave behind scat and tracks. Colorful illustrations of animals and their leavings supplement this lively tale, and a quick-identification chart at the back makes field identification a breeze!

About the author
Gary D. Robson
37 books30 followersGary Robson never decided what he wants to be when (if?) he grows up. In addition to being a successful author with 750,000 copies of his books sold, he’s been a software engineer, microelectronics designer, adjunct college professor, curriculum designer, and voice actor. He has owned a bookstore, a tea & game shop, and a small-town newspaper. Most recently, he was executive director of a wildlife sanctuary.
Along the way, he became an expert in closed captioning technology for deaf and hard-of-hearing people, which resulted in three books, three U.S. patents, and a TEDx talk.
Throughout all of life’s journeys, one thing remained constant for Gary: writing. Dozens of books, hundreds of articles, and a handful of technical manuals. Most was nonfiction, until he tried writing children’s books. His Who Pooped in the Park series of animal scat & track books for kids are his best-known and best-selling books.
At last, Gary is semi-retired. The kids are on their own, so it’s just him, his wife, two dogs, and two cats. Settled in a small town near Yellowstone Park, surrounded by lots of books and really good tea, he finally has time to write what he loves to read: fantasy!
His latest book is The Bounds of Magic, book 1 in the Tryllevær Saga, and there’s more to come!

i just liked the title... but there is some good info in here. I wish it was more of a field guide for kids and less of a goofy story with some info scattered in information boxes.

Learn the tracks and scat and some basic facts about numerous wildlife species while listening in to a family’s conversation on their desert nature walk.

I'll admit that I picked this book because the title Who Pooped in the Sonoran Desert made me laugh but this is an excellent book for any elementary classroom to have.
Learning doesn't have to be boring and Gary D. Robson takes the reader on a hike through the Sonoran desert, describing the different animals that live there based upon their "scat". Which the reader will learn is the proper term for animal droppings.
Interesting, funny and full of new information, this is a book I would highly recommend. Gary D. Robson covers animals from Gila Monsters, desert tortoises, coyotes and mountain lions. On each page there is an interesting fact included about each animal.

Great way to teach kids about nature and wildlife in the Sonoran desert. I love the quick facts and the diversity of wildlife. I would have given five stars if the storyline was a bit stronger.
