MiPOesias Magazine's newly released issue showcases the work of poets of Cuban descent who live in the U.S. The results are stories spun from highways and oceans, lyric meditations on love's rough edges and potent homages to deities and to the departed. No matter the subject, these poems blend the romance and sorrows of the past with a crisp view of daily life. Edited by Emma Trelles and featuring Richard Blanco, Rita Maria Martinez, Grisel Y. About the author

Emma Trelles is the author of the poetry chapbook Little Spells (GOSS183) and the full-length collection Tropicalia (University of Notre Dame Press) — winner of the Andres Montoya Poetry Prize and a finalist for ForeWord Reviews/IndieFab poetry book of the year. Her poems and prose have appeared or are forthcoming in The Los Angeles Review; Miramar; Political Punch: Contemporary Poems on the Politics of Identity; Poet Lore; The Best American Poetry; PoetsArtists; Best of the Net; the Miami Herald; & others. She has taught creative writing workshops at Antioch University, PINTURA/PALABRA, an ekphrastic project sponsored by Letras Latinas/Institute for Latino Studies at Notre Dame; the Sanibel Island Writers Conference; The Center for Literature and Theatre in Miami; and Florida International University. She is the receipient of an Individual Artist Fellowship in poetry from the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs & now lives with her husband in Santa Barbara, where she programs the Mission Poetry Series.

Very handsomely designed publication. Emma Trellis did a great job bringing together a diverse group of voices---her own, Rich Villar, Mia Leonin, and Virgil Suarez, whose time at LSU ended just about when I washed up there. And yes, I was flattered to be asked to write a review of Oscar Hijuelos. How Menendez Publishing manages to produces so much good stuff is a mystery, but it's great to see an indie thrive so creatively.

Emma did a great job editing, and the reading at books and books was standing room only. Congrats Didi and Emma, for a job well done
