Transferable Skills for Scientists and Engineers

Rate this book
Transferable skills or Contiued Professional Development (CPD) is currently a very hot topic. The Dearing Report stressed the importance of such skills for undergraduates and professional institutions now are working towards equipping new industrial recruits with the skills required for CPD.

Edited by the professor responsible for implementing such a programme at York University, this book covers in a single volume all the transferable skills that an undergraduate or new employee needs to enable them to make a contribution to industrial life. After an introductory chapter explaining the importance of such skills, chapters on each individual skill follow, containing guidelines on good and bad practice, case studies and practical checklists. In addition, the book also contains review sheets to reinforce student learning and further develop their skills. Covering all the skills, this book will be invaluable to the student throughout their degree programme and on into industrial life.
