The Seven: Hope from Jesus in the Book of Revelation

Need hope for the future? Seven ancient letters contain actual words of Christ from 20 centuries ago. They're in every Bible, tucked into the most obscure part of the mysterious Book of Revelation. But they're often overlooked because their symbolic language, addressed to seven first-century churches, can be puzzling to modern readers. How can their meaning be unlocked? In The Seven, René Schlaepfer journeys to the original sites of these seven churches. What he discovers through new archaeological finds and manuscript research helps decode these documents. And if you ever feel discouraged, exhausted, or in need of a personal word from God, these words of Christ can change the way you see your present...and your future. The Seven is a seven-week journey of discovery, with 50 short daily chapters and seven weekly discussion guides for groups.

Paster Rene Schlaepfer does a great job teaching & describing what Jesus was telling the 7 early churches in Revalations. I had never understood what the passages were about prior to this book. Pastor Schlaepfer fills in the history & issues that were prevelant in these towns during the time of the letters being written. Without the context of this information, the passages seemed so cryptic to our current world.

A fascinating look at the seven churches of Revelation. Includes a lot of details I have not seen in other commentaries.
