A Love So Deep

Rate this book
How do you save a widower who weaves a road map of self-destruction because his wife of forty years has suddenly died and he's unable to cope with the reality of that loss? Graham Peters has shut everyone out of his life and has tried unsuccessfully to immortalize his wife, Amanda, by reliving daily (through flashbacks) their life together. But with a little prodding from best friend, Charlie Ford, Graham's spirit begins to lift, and he finds that there is life after death in the likeness of Ms. Rita Long, a sultry jazz singer at a local nightclub, far from the church that has been his life.

A man now obsessed with the beautiful, long-legged Rita Long, Graham is faced with questions. Can he love another woman the way he loved Amanda? Will his daughters think he's lost his mind because he's seeing Rita? After all, Amanda has only been in the ground a couple of months. Can he bring this new woman into his home that reeks of Amanda...to possibly begin a new life together?

Ms. Rita Long comes with baggage-an ex-husband, ex-NBA star who is consumed with tapping into her success to satisfy his gambling debts. And there's a secret admirer, Graham's best friend Charlie, whose jealousy turns to rage when Rita and Graham become an item that guarantees an explosive end.

It will take all that is within Rita and Graham to save the love that has blossomed between them as their foes line up one by one and threaten to destroy their relationship and old friendships. And for Graham the question becomes, can he still have the memories of the love of his life while establishing a brand-new one

This is the story of love and happiness, friendship and betrayal, destruction and resurrection.

Forty years of happiness with the love of your life when unfortunately time expires, leaving one to have to go on without the other. For Graham Peters there simply is no way he can live without his heart Amanda. This is why Graham attempts to rid himself of life. Charlie, Graham's best friend, tries to help his friend through his bereavement. Graham finds himself at the Watering Hole, not one of his regular hangouts, at the suggestion of Charlie. He's trying to rid himself of the misery that has overtaken his life. Enter Rita Long, a jazz singer, who is just what the doctor has ordered for Graham's recovery.

Sadly enough, the people in their lives aren't receptive to this up-and-coming union and are willing to do any and everything to put a halt to it. With so much against them, will Graham and Rita make it?

Suzetta Perkins has done an excellent job! `A Love So Deep' is an intriguing read that is filled with real emotions from start to finish. I was able to relate to this book as I experienced such a loss. I would recommend it to those who've suffered the loss of a soul mate. `A Love So Deep' details lost, love, secrets and jealousy. Great read!
