A fantastic overview of the archeological history of the southern Sierras. Burge does an excellent and thorough job of collecting all the previous work that's been done on the subject. For an anthropologist, it's great; well cited and source, and pleasingly organized. For a layperson, it's probably a little bit dry, but still extremely informative. If you love the parks and their history, you should own this.
