This was a surprise. It's two books in one, and I decided to give it a go based on it popping up in an amazon email and the reviews at the time. I picked it up on some sort of free promotion. Looks like an indie author, and that can be apparent in the first book, but the story is still exciting and fast paced. At times it does gloss over some scenes, but, you know what, it all goes away with book 2!!!

The second part is where this world really comes alive, the characters are amazing and it appears the author is trying to tell a story or expand on the lead characters in each story. In the first it was a character called Olof, almost like Thor but with powers of ice. Book 2 concentrated more on a character called Ju Long and a being called Kazmagus! Kazmagus is freaking awesome!! But I'll let you discover that!

There are moments of sheer genius, and the first book is very much a stepping stone to set the pieces up for the rest of the stories. I seriously can't wait for the next one! Keep up the good work M.K. Drake!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading these books and didn't want them to end. You know that feeling where you desperately want to know what happens but you also want to slow your reading speed so the story lasts longer? It's a weird conundrum. It is mind blowing how much action the author managed to pack into them it was seriously non-stop. I like that there was a mix of joy and tragedy, unexpected twists, and the developing friendships that tie it all together.
There has obviously been a lot of effort into research and amazing character names, mythology and really interesting combinations of past and future ideologies and technologies.
I can't wait for book 3 and will be eagerly following this author to see what else is in store for us.
