The Magic Door books are an invitation to view learning as fun. Engaging art and creative text provide readers with basic lessons that last a lifetime. Firefighter Tom to the Rescue! is about a fireman and his role in both the firehouse and the community. Kids discover the fundamentals behind an important and heroic profession.
Kids might like this one, but I thought it was pretty boring. There's also this sort of non-sequitur page at the beginning that talks about how a book is a magic door. This book appears to be one in a series of "Magic Door to Learning", so I assume this page appears at the beginning of each of the books. There's not a lot of story, and the pictures are just OK. Overall, it might be an OK book to check out of the library and read once, but I don't think it's a keeper, and I don't think it will work for storytime.
