August Hermann Francke (1663-1727) is one of the most prominent figures of German Pietism. Like nobody else Francke developed pietistic ways of life that had a lasting impact on cultural values. The short biographies presented here provide a picture of Francke's personality. First of all there is his own autobiographical sketch which is followed by the memoirs which his heirs and disciples have drawn up after his death.
