Rate this book
With its highly motivational speed-level approach to cycling, this outstanding guide will soon have even novice riders pedaling their way to fabulous fitness and more passion-filled workouts

"Eric Harr has an astounding ability to motivate practically anyone," wrote Shape magazine editor Alexa Joy Sherman about Harr's Triathlon Training in Four Hours a Week. In his newest book Harr demonstrates his exceptional gift for inspiring even the most sedentary couch potato to want to get into shape. By following Harr's easy-to-implement 10-week program, cyclists will build their speed level by level, until they reach the goal of 25 miles per hour. And along the way they will recapture their passion for bike riding. Here cyclists will
• 25 action-oriented strategies to get moving
• directions to help climb, descend, and corner better
• advice on what to eat before and after workouts
• tips for riding "smart and safe"
• a list of the 7 best foods for longevity

The book shows readers how to reach their goal in just three key workouts each week—the long ride, the tempo ride, and the interval session—and it will soon have them riding faster, with more fluid grace, and with more enjoyment than ever before.

I am terribly out of shape and ride recumbent. I though there probably wasn't much here for me. Then I read the section where Harr says if you aren't going to clip in you can't cruise along at 20 miles an hour. He also said some of you should never clip it, but I can help you. Well that's me, I should never clip in. And I am riding a different type of bike. But I kept reading.

I decided I wasn't physically ready to do his multi-week plan. So I focused on his chapter of tips and tricks to up your speed. The first day I went out to try his tips I upped my speed significantly. I saw a 4 mile an hour increase in my riding speed and a six mile an hour increase in my sprint.

I keep turning back to this book and rereading the tips, trying to get them to be habits when I ride. I found a lot of good information here.
