Finally finished! I’ve been reading this book - on and off - for four months. NOT an impact of the author’s style, just too many other conflicting commitments - IB upload and IB 5-Year Review among them...
This book is incredibly useful. Sections 5 & 6 in particular - on the writing of the essay and on the role of Supervisor have, with minor modification, gone straight into our EE provision.
My only criticism of this book - and many other EE Guides is that the examples given are take. In the vast majority from Group 1 or Group 3 topics. This fuels an idea that EEs in the Sciences or Maths or Group 2 Languages are ‘more difficult’ than other subject areas and so skew the students towards EE in these areas in large numbers. More examples of RQ from Maths or a structure from Science EE or any Group 6 subject, would be much appreciated for non-specialist EE Coordinators/IB Coordinators to promote EE across a wider number of subject groups.
Great guide about the new Extended Essay- including the new citeria. Very clear, detailed, visual and user -friendly step by step guide that can be very useful to Ib coordinators, EE Coordinators, teachers, librarians, parents and students.
