This is such a lovely, gentle book. I loved learning about the various places, animals and plant life on Oahu. The Hawaiian words with the pronunciations and explanations were interesting and helpful. This is perfect for bedtime or just a quiet cuddle.

Feels like a local is touring you around Hawaii

"When you are quiet, what do you hear? When you are still, what do you see?" open this beautiful book that takes you on a mindful tour around the island of Hawaii.

The pages boast of the tourist attractions in Hawai'i but give you a perspective that you can only see if you are serene about it. The pages also have footnotes explaining the Hawaiian words and some of the author's feelings.

If you need a soft and peaceful story for bed time, then this is the book to pick up. Perhaps your child will even be enticed to visit Hawai'i someday."

I really thought this book was super cute. I also loved how I knew of all the places mentioned since we DO live on Oahu, haha!

The best of this book was that they actually had a pronunciation key at the bottom of the page when they used a Hawaiian word. I was very thankful for that because in some other Hawaiiana books they haven't had a pronunciation key & I know I've mutilated the Hawaiian language a few times. So tonight was a good read because I was actually able to pronounce the words!
