It took me a while to get through this book, mostly since I was trying to get some of the tutorials to work in Unity 2018 and the game code didn't work. But once I downloaded the version used in the book, I didn't have any problems at all. Each tutorial is written out very well, explained clearly, and have plenty of screenshots to help you along in case you get stuck.

I will mention the one problem I ran into was with the Shooting Gallery game, where it took me about 2 hours and damn near starting my work over again from scratch to figure out what the problem was, where one line of code made my entire game crash. The code was meant to be in Start() and not in Awake(). So make sure you check the code for the game you're working on and have the book provided code also open so you can copy and paste in what you need. I know it sometimes feels like cheating when you can see all the working code before you're finished the tutorial, but this time around I was very glad to have it.

Other than that, this is a really good book! I hope there will be an updated version sometime in the future since there are a lot of very good concepts that are covered that can be used when making future games.

The book is a great introduction to Unity because it takes you through a great range of games that give you experience in using several aspects of Unity. It contains the following: Twin-stick shooter, UI Clicker, Flappy-bird style game, shooting gallery, platforming game, a horror FPS style game, and platforming level editor.

I would put this a little closer to a 4.5 but rounded up. Ultimately, I love the approach it has for beginners tackling Unity. Starting with some basic UIs, working up to 2D, then wrapping up with 3D. Ultimately, I felt like the 3D section of the book was a huge step backwards in flow. That said, the UI and 2D are tremendous.

Have been a teacher of programming and game development for years, I think this does an awesome job scaffolding learners up in a logical way. The easy to follow examples with clean explanations make it easy for new learners to process. This book is in the arsenal of books I recommend to those beginning with Unity.
