The Lazy Teacher's Guide To TEFL

Rate this book
If you want teaching English abroad (to mostly kids) to be really simple and fun then read on...

You have choices for learning how to teach...

You could browse the web, wing it, take a course, read some books, etc.

But in my experience browsing the web to learn how to teach is a MASSIVE waste of time and winging it is totally irresponsible. Your boss, students and their parents won't be happy which will lead to your headache.

And...

Taking a course can work IF it's a good one, but I've taken 2 and neither one was very helpful which is partly why I started my own courses.

So...

If you want to spend less time digging for nuggets of wisdom on the web, not be totally irresponsible by winging it, and you want to save time + $$$ on taking a course then...

BAM!

This is it.

With this book YOU'LL LEARN the stuff that really matters, SPEND LESS TIME planning for lessons than the other teachers at your school AND your lessons will probably be better. In fact the other teachers in your school may even come to you for help...

Hehehe.

And you didn't even take a course!

The Lazy Teacher's Guide To TEFL is a very simple and practical guide book to teaching English as a foreign language. It takes the LESS IS MORE approach to TEFL which can be especially good for newcomers because information overload is no good.

INSTEAD OF wasting time studying useless and boring things like English grammar and teaching theory in a course (which you'll never use) you'll skip right to the essentials.

It is NOT A COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE to teaching ESL. It does not focus on teaching adults. Again it is simple and its goal is to make entering the ESL classroom (as a new teacher) much easier.

Learn how to teach English (especially to kids) with this practical QUICK START GUIDE to teaching ESL.

I have been reading a lot of Teach English as a Foreign Language books and I admit most are pretty redundant. This one felt useful as it truly gives an easy way to breakdown and process lesson planning. Granted it is probably a better idea to be a little more detailed in classes but honestly I like how the author explained how the classes should go and gave tips on what to do with bad situations in the classroom. When I am ready to leave I will definitely download this one again as a refresher.
