This book is a staunch survivor from my years of reading self-help and supervisorial-skills books. I initially purchased it on a whim, solely on the basis of the cartoon that illustrates Chapter One: it depicts a homecoming businessman creeping into his front door and completely deflating (s-s-s-s) into a human puddle. Oh, I could relate!
The author covers a lot of ground: playfulness, balance, fun, leftbrain/rightbrain tendencies and how to use them, organization and planning. It contains a GREAT chapter on the difference between positive "ventilation" and negative "dumping" in groups. It always cheers me to flip through a few pages of its gentle, reasonable, good-humoured suggestions.
What makes it exceptional is that its suggestions are equally valuable for retirees, homemakers, and others who don't "go" to work. You don't have to STAY home exhausted, either! The subtitle is "A Program to Bring Joy, Energy, and Balance to Your Life"-- and it contains such a variety of suggestions that at least one of them is likely to supply some increse of joy, evergy, and/or balance in any reader's life.
