Taryn's Camera: Beginnings

Rate this book

Taryn Magill can see the past through her camera and she’s never met an old house she didn’t like. But what happened before she fought for her life at the Devil’s House? What is the mysterious presence that haunts her Aunt Sarah’s farmhouse in New Hampshire? Was she the first to see and hear ghosts at the historic Shaker Village?

Taryn’s Camera: Beginnings includes 4 novellas that act as prequels to the Taryn’s Camera series. All ghost stories, all spooky fun!

In “Pieces” you’ll travel back to Shaker Town and follow Susan, a spitfire woman who learned the secret of the haunted pond long before Taryn.

In “The Devil’s House” you’ll return to Windwood Farm and follow four teenagers in the 1950s who spend an evening at the haunted house that none of them will ever forget.

In “Stella”, you’ll meet Taryn’s grandmother, a woman who finds that there’s more to her spooky old house than she ever imagined.

Lastly, in “Sarah” you’ll finally meet Taryn’s Aunt Sarah. Alone in her rambling old farmhouse in New Hampshire, Sarah is about to come face-to-face with something unspeakable–something that will act as the catalyst for everything that follows in Taryn’s life.

**These are companion stories to the Taryn’s Camera series. It is not necessary to have read the rest of the books in the series first. The Taryn’s Camera series follows multi-media artist Taryn Magill, a woman who can see the past through her camera. If you like ghosts, mysteries, and old houses than she’s your gal!**

I wish this series would never end.

This series was my introduction to paranormal fiction. And Howard will always be a favorite writer with her excellent storytelling, compelling characters and exceptional world building. You can literally see and feel the characters experiences in your minds eye. This series has zero spice but it doesn’t need it as it’s so well written.

Really enjoyed this

Great introduction to Taryn's aunt Sarah and her Grandmother Stella.
Few spelling and grammar errors. The editors really need to do a better job when promo reading or get someone else to do it .
I only wish that I had this book before or just after reading Windwood Farm and Shakers Town as I had lost some of the details from the books.
Worth reading through

A good read

I enjoyed this book of 4 stories. It was nice to read about Taryns family members and heat had happened before the books started. It put a lot in place for me.

Good stories but doesn't coincide with the book series.

Spoiler Alert!!!!! I really liked the stories in the book but to call it a prequel is not accurate. In the story about Sarah's house, she is thinking back to how much she had wanted a child but had never been able to have one but she did, she was Taryn's real mother. Then she acts like she didn't know her house was haunted but once again, she did know because the thing had caused her to have to give up Taryn.

In Stella's story, which was good by the way, she says she was in the delivery room when Taryn was born to Millicent, but Taryn was born to Sarah in the book series.

If the author is going to label something a prequel, then the facts of the story should match. Other wise, these were good stories. It's just not really a prequel.
